The news from the BBC ( UK ) is that Tottenham Hotspurs has knocked back an incredible 98M€ offer from Real Madrid for its player Gareth Bale. According to the English news sources Bale is not impressed at all as he desires to move over to Spain this season. Apparently the player ( & his family ) has began to pressure the Club & its "tough" President Daniel Levy to negotiate to let him go.
As said here many months ago, this operation was never going to be easy.
From here, Spain, the news is that Tottemham Hotspurs wishes 150M€, which is pure madness, but is it? Real Madrid will plant itself around 100M€ & ask the player to pressure locally. In the operation Real Madrid will offer defender Coentrao &/or Argentine forward Angel Di Maria. These two players may reach the 150M€ figure if we sum up cash plus value of the players.
It is rumoured that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez & Tottenham Hotspurs President Levy have scheduled a face to face reunion next week in Miami (USA) to talk about & perhaps shut the transfer of Gareth Bale over to the Spanish Football Club.
The agreement between player & Real Madrid is closed & defined. The contract is for 6 seasons & the salary for Bale is 10M€ per season. The player was apparently promised by the Club that if Tottenham did not play Champions League this season that the Club would negotiate his transfer. Bale is unimpressed with the stance of his Club.
Conclusion, this operation will take a lot longer than everyone expects. Plus an imminent agreement will need to be seen while things are still very unsure. Tottenham Hotspurs is not impressed either with Gareth Bale & his attitude & less with Real Madrid which they considered have being "eating away" at Bale. Levy may not sell after all.
Stay tuned, we could be on the way to a new "World Record Football transfer" for a player. Again Real Madrid in the forefront.
