Borussia Dortmund striker Lewandowski is back in the pages of the Spanish Sports papers. The Polish forward & his future is uncertain & this has given some hope to Real Madrid in contemplating a possible signing. I did say hope, although still difficult. Lets get into the context.
Lewandowski has another season of contract with Dortmund. If Dortmund are to get money they must sell the player before the 1st of January 2014, or else the player can leave for free thereafter. The Polish striker thinking about his future signed a "pre-contract" with Bayern Munich ( illegal by the way under FIFA rules ) for next season excepting his Club would sell now.
However, Borussia Dortmund does not wish under any circumstances to strengthen its German rival & less sell its top class forward. Dortmund has excellent relations with Real Madrid & has offered Lewandowski at a "bargain price" of around 20-25M€.
The problem is Lewandowski. The Polish player does not want to leave Germany & wishes to play at Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola. The man does not ( for now ) wish to think about any other Club. This is the only obstacle to a possible Real Madrid signing as both Clubs involved are in unison to shut this almost immediately.
With the future of Lewandowski in the air, FC Barcelona has entered the picture to see if they can "scrap" up some action. It is speculated that Barça may offer 30M€ to convince Club & player, but after the Neymar investment, I doubt Barça has the resources. I smell "revenge" for the Real Madrid interference & bidding war with Neymar. In any case, I sense neither Real Madrid & FC Barcelona will want to be aggressive against Bayern Munich which is the other piece of the puzzle.
In conclusion, Borussia will not sell to Bayern. Borussia has "offered" their player to Real Madrid but Lewandowski only wants to play at Bayern Munich. Stalemate? Hope for Real Madrid? Past experience shows that players play where they wish to play. At this moment Bayern Munich is in the front-seat. In the worst case, Lewandowski may decide to play his last year of contract at Borussia & go "free" to Bayern in 2014.
Stay tuned!
