Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano fell 0 - 2 to the "revelation" Club of the Liga Real Sociedad. The Basque Club consolidate themselves a little more in the 4th position of the ladder & thus access to next season Champions League.
The job was done in the first 15 mins with two goals from Agirretxe ( 6th & 14th min). From then onwards Real Sociedad controlled the match for the three points.
A walk in the park for Atletico de Madrid with a 5 - 0 thrashing of Granada which is hoovering the relegation zone of the Liga table. It was all Atletico de Madrid from kick off to the end of the 90 minutes with total match domination.
The goals rained in this order, Diego Costa in the 4th min, Falcao with two ( 27th & 47 th min , Raul Garcia in the 63rd min & Filipe in the 70th min.
Atletico maintains its struggle with Real Madrid for the important classification second place & with it Champions League direct access.
Real Zaragoza continue with their relegation zone drama after losing 0 - 3 to a B-side FC Barcelona. A Barça B-side that would be an A-team in any other League in World Football. FC Barcelona is thinking already about the Champions League semi-finals & Bayern Munich & rested key players including Messi who is still being nursed for his injury.
The victory for Barça was deserved with goals from Thiago in the 20th min & two from Tello ( 39th & 53rd min) which wrapped things up. Zaragoza is under immense pressure to make some wins & gain some points as they are already in the relegation "black hole" & each week that passes without a positive result will be harder to get out.
It was the last time we would see an Athletic Club Bilbao & Real Madrid clash in the legendary "San Mames" Stadium ( La Catedral ) before Bilbao moves to the "new San Mames" next season. However, Bilbao could not go off with a bang & lost 0 - 3 to Real Madrid which was hard fought, rough at times & intense as these games are traditionally are between theses two historical Clubs.
The difference was Cristiano Ronaldo, his insatiable thirst for competition & goals carried Real Madrid through a difficult first half that he later transformed in the second half to drive his team onto the victory. Cristiano Ronaldo put Real Madrid ahead after a dubious foul in the 2nd min from a free-kick drive that beat the Bilbao goalkeeper for goal.
Then Real Madrid suffered & nearly saw Bilbao equalize as they lifted the intensity & created chances. But in the second half there was Cristiano Ronaldo again in the 68th min when he headed a grand goal that took the wind out of Bilbao. Then Cristiano Roanldo did his last party trick & found Gonzalo Higuian , who came on for Benzema, with a deadly pass which Higuain scored in the 75th min for the third. CR7 was then substituted after he had done his job & tilted the game his teams way.
Three points to Real Madrid & another loss to Bilbao which is having a terrible season.
