CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULT | REAL MADRID 1 MANCHESTER UTD 1

The much anticipated CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 1º leg home match between REAL MADRID & MANCHESTER UNITED ended as big games of this calibre tend to almost always finish, in a 1 - 1 draw.

Both teams played with maximum respect & it was a very clean game which is to be applauded. Great example from both teams.

The result should leave Manchester United more happy than Real Madrid. The away goal is always important & the English Club takes it back home. Madrid will be upset with the goal that got through because of the manner, a corner set piece which has been their Achilles heel all season.

WELBECK put Manchester United ahead from a Rooney corner in the 19th min which came against the play dominated by Real Madrid at that moment. This caught Madrid by surprise & cut somewhat their accelerated momentum.

To Real Madrid´s credit the team continued with their game plan of advancing defensive lines & going for the goal. It came in the 29th min in spectacular fashion when Di Maria crossed to find a floating CRISTIANO RONALD0 flying in the air to header home the equalizer. Majestic. 

The rest of the game was a see-saw of opportunities to both sides with each failing to finish off their plays & convert goals. The goalkeepers tonight had their important part with Diego Lopez of Madrid making some important saves along with Spanish Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea. It was the latter that should receive a special mention as De Gea was probably his teams best player with some extraordinary interventions to avoid plenty of goal opportunities to Real Madrid.

Just as their rival Manchester United had their moments but they could not materialize their plays into goals. The end result of a draw is just, & the tie now has to be solved at Old Trafford in two weeks. If tonight's games was excellent from a Football & spectators perspective the return match promises to be even better & more exciting.

Special mentions to Ozil, Khedira, Varane & Cristiano Ronaldo for their efforts tonight. The latter was inspired & currently is in "way out" form, his goal was art. For Manchester United as already said De Gea was outstanding, Welbeck was dangerous, Van Persie had his chances & Evans was solid.
