Last night Madrid Club RAYO VALLECANO defeated ATHLETIC CLUB BILBAO 1 - 2. Rayo deserved the victory but Bilbao were angry as they heavy protested a penalty that seemed very doggy, a penalty that turned out to be the winner.
Rayo went ahead via LASS in the 48th min & then was awarded a controversial penalty when Chori Dominguez was fouled close ( or in ) the box. PITI converted for the second in the 65th min. Bilbao attempted to react & was rewarded for their efforts with a great SUSAETA volley in the 77th min.
Rayo are currently high up on the Liga ladder & are enjoying there deserved moments of glory.
RCD ESPANYOL needed the three points like water in the desert & won 1 - 0 another Club in dire straits, CELTA DE VIGO. The winner came relatively early in the 22nd min when SERGIO GARCIA scored the goal for Espanyol. Mini-celebration at Espanyol.
REAL MALLORCA are also going through the "horrors" & were solidly defeated away by an impressive REAL VALLADOLID. ELBERT was in sharp form as he scored two of the Valladolid goals - 21 st & 90 th min - along with his team-mate OSCAR in the 87th min. Mallorca got a goal in the 37th min via VICTOR that was the equalizer but their efforts stopped there. Final result 3 - 1
OSASUNA is a hostile & traditionally difficult ground for REAL MADRID, this an the absence of Pepe, Ramos & Cristiano Ronaldo made things tougher in a match that ended in a 0 - 0 draw. A result that puts the Spanish League title practically out of reach for Madrid which will undoubtedly be concentrating all their efforts in Champions League & the Spanish Cup.
With the mentioned names absent, the defence looked slack & the Madrid forward line lacked punch. Plus Osasuna did not help with their sticky & difficult Football that went from average to very good as the match went on.
KAKA was given a chance & a run & stupidly earned himself a red card to leave his team with 10 men, Coach Mourinho was very unhappy & Kaka could have sentenced his end of future with this undisciplined act.
Another week of debate as Mourinho may find external factors to "hide" this draw, better said, almost defeat.
Semi - battlefield stuff at VALENCIA CF which hosted SEVILLA FC. The first have was a fought out affair & very rough as it will be remember more for the fouls than for the Football. It was 45 minutes of see-saw play to each Club with stops & starts as they battled in the midfield.
However in the second half Valencia finally managed to shake off Sevilla whose play fell a few levels to allowed an inspired ROBERTO SOLDADO take the initiative of his team to score two goals. The first in the 50th min & the second in the 88th min to wrap things up for the locals. Final score 2 - 0
