The SPANISH CUP ( Copa del Rey ) celebrated two matches tonight of the Quarter Final 1º st leg phase. Here are the final results & the scorers.
REAL ZARAGOZA & SEVILLA FC ended their match in a 0 - 0 draw. The highlight was the debut of new Sevilla Fc Coach Emery ( ex-Valencia CF) & not the Football in general. The home side did their job at stopping the visitors & Sevilla FC, which played better with more chances, settled for the draw to attempt to finish things at home in the 2nd leg.
FC BARCELONA managed a worked 2 - 2 draw over MALAGA FC. The visitors put in a great 2 º nd half & go home with two valuable away goals.
Malaga got ahead first after Thiago fumbled a goal-keeper Pinto pass that ITURRA stole & scored in the 25th min. This seemed to make Barça react & they scored two quick goals in a space of the 2 minutes. The first LIONEL MESSI with a marvellous right wing run & into the box to score in the 28th min. While PUYOL scored the second in the 30th min with a header.
Malaga then bettered & troubled Barcelona in the second half with a couple of clear chances & goalie Pinto made an important save. Malaga then lost defender Monreal to a red card that was very harsh mid second half that took the gained steam out of the visitors. However, with 10 men Malaga worked harder & got the equalizer in the 89th min via CAMACHO.
