SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE | ROUND 2 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA action tonight with four games of Round 2 scheduled. Here is a brief summary of the matches with the close final results , scorers & surprises.

Spanish football
Messi

The OSASUNA ground is a difficult field for FC BARCELONA in the last few seasons. The visitors managed a close win 1 - 2 against a very serious & well placed defensive home side that nearly pull off the surprise. In fact, Osasuna started strong & went ahead in the 16th min when JOSEBA LLORENTE scored. Until then Tello for Barça hit the wood-work before in the 15th min but that was really all Barça did most of the first half as Osasuna defended well & created the chances.

The second half was more of the same with Osasuna doing the business & frustrating Barça with solid play & goal chances. The Barça nerves & frustrations were evident as Coach Vilanova saw a red card for complaining to the referee. Then the controversial moment of the night arrived when Alexis who was offiside found LIONEL MESSI in the 75th min who equalized. The Osasuna protests ended with Puñal seeing a red card & Osasuna down to 10 men. Serious moral blow for the home team which was now at a disadvantage & LIONEL MESSI again did his magic to score the second & winner in the 79th min.

Close call for Barça. but Messi is in excellent form & got his team out of trouble.

Getafe - Real Madrid

GETAFE surprised everyone with a 2 - 1 victory over REAL MADRID & that leaves the latter already 5 points behind Barça. The difference with Barça is that, unlike Messi, the Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is at 50% & that shows in the teams overall performance. But it is not only CR7 who is below form, Ozil is down in form & Xabi Alonso is not fine tuned either. This does not take away the merit from Getafe who played a great match & played their cards.

Real Madrid was controlling things early & hit the bar via Ozil, to which HIGUAIN converted later in the 27th min for the first goal. From here Madrid was less & less effective as the match went on while Getafe grew in confidence.

The equalizer came via a VALERA header in the 52nd min. Real Coach Mourinho then risked looking for the winner & put on Benzema taking off a Lass - a midfielder. Getafe then in the 75th min found their second goal with a swift counter-attack that caught the Madrid defence split & attacking after Colunga passed Albiol in the wing & found BARRADA alone to score. There was a hand-ball by Colunga earlier but the referee did not see it, that´s Football.

Real Madrid then tried everything to equalize with up to 5 forwards but could not pull it off. Alarms at Real this week!

Spanish Football
Granada - Sevilla

GRANADA & SEVILLA FC drew 1 - 1 tonight with Granada nearly winning in the very last minute had Flores with a header not hit the wood-work.

An even game overall between both sides with Sevilla losing goalkeeper Diego Lopez in the 35th min to a red card. The penalty then was stopped by substitute goalie Palop but RICO scored for Granada on the rebound. Sevilla with 10 men reacted well & NEGREDO scored the equalizer with a 43rd min header.

The second half was a battle with Granada attempting to exploit their numerical advantage & Sevilla doing their best to keep out Granada. Excitement till the end & Granada nearly won in the last second. Shared points!

Spanish Football
valencia - deportivo

Match of the night, with end to end Football & goals galore. VALENCIA CF drew 3 - 3 with DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA that included a comeback from the latter in the second half.

The first half was for Valencia which clearly dominated proceedings & with SOLDADO getting two goals in the 11th & 28th min. Deportivo reacted & gave early signs of what was to come from them as they battled & managed to equalize via AGUILAR in the 38th min. But Valencia continued with their momentum & FEGHOULI got the third in the 40th min.

The second half went to Deportivo which turned things around & they managed to get a second via AGUILAR in the 59th min & the equalizer via a penalty that PIZZI transformed in the 76th min. This last action left Valencia down to 10 men when Ricardo Costa got a red card. Shared point, great game.
