Real Zaragoza stay alive in La Liga |
VILLAREAL lost away 2 - 1 to last placed REAL ZARAGOZA which has decided that they will not go down into the 2º Division without fighting to stay alive in "La Liga". Villareal got ahead early via a goal from MARTINUCCIO in the 15th min & it looked like another gray & sad day at the Zaragoza ground. The local fans were leaving the stadium when LUIS GARCIA scored a "screamer" to equalize in the 84th min, which was followed in the last moment the winner by ABRAHIM in the 93rd min.
Zaragoza cling on to their hopes! A brave comeback indeed.
Susaeta for Bilbao |
Big "Basque Region" derby between ATHLETIC CLUB BILBAO & REAL SOCIEDAD that saw the home team win 2 - 0 & jump provisionally into "Champions League" table positions. The match was entertaining & controversial as Sociedad had a goal by Vela disallowed in the 47th min that crossed the goal line & would have meant the equalizer if had been given.
However the two winning goals came from SUSAETA, the first in the 24th min & a "pearl" of a free-kick in the 80th min that brought the stadium down. Bilbao also hit the bar earlier, thus deserved victory globally speaking.
Bilbao are look good & have a fine generation of young players pulling the boat.
Feghouli scores for Valencia CF |
GRANADA hosted VALENCIA CF & lost 0 - 1 to the only goal from FEGHOULI in the 32 nd min. In the 2º half Granada began their dominance & began pressuring Valencia which was losing steam & strength. It became a one way street as Granada tried everything to find the equalizer to which Valencia managed to stand firm during the onslaught. Lots of yellow cards for the Valencia midfielders & defenders as they had to use all their "tricks of the trade" to keep their team alive.
Real Madrid - Espanyol |
REAL MADRID won RCD ESPANYOL 5 - 0 to maintain its 10 point gap on the top of the Spanish League ladder over second placed FC Barcelona. It was a "one way street" game as Real Madrid dominated from start to finish & some of their "low form players" found the touch of the "golden finger" to put in an excellent match. The scoreline could have been more had Ronaldo , Higuain, & later substitute, young Morata been more accurate, although the Espanyol keeper Casilla had lots to say here.
GONZALO HIGUAIN found his "old-self" tonight with two goals ( 46th & 77th min), along with goals from CRISTIANO RONALDO who opened in the 23rd min, KHEDIRA in the 37th min & KAKA in the 66th min who put in a top match. German OZIL was outstanding tonight as many of the Real Madrid goals started from his build-up plays.
Espanyol may feel that they did not deserve such punishment, but everything went as "smooth as silk" for Real Madrid & they were very difficult to stop tonight.
TOMORROW MONDAY NIGHT MATCH:
Levante - Real Betis
