SPANISH CUP 1º LEG QUARTER FINAL RESULT | RCD ESPANYOL 3 - MIRANDES 2

The Quarter Final phase of the SPANISH CUP ( Copa del Rey ) kicked of tonight with the 1ºst leg match between LIGA Club RCD ESPANYOL & the "Cinderalla of the tournament" Club from the Spanish 2º B Division MIRANDES. 


The match was a "beauty" with Espanyol having to lift itself up & comeback to put in a marvellous last 15 mins to win 3 - 2. 

Penalty not called to Mirandes

The theoretical lesser team, Mirandes, gave Espanyol a bath right up till the 78th min. The visitors were 0 - 2 up after ALAIN scored first in the 27th min & PABLO INFANTE scored in the 78th min. A clear penalty to Mirandes was not called when Espanyol defender Amat fouled Infante ( see above ) in the area, this effected the final result.

But while Mirandes was "dreaming" of a possible semis birth they sinned in lack of "big time experience" & the "fat lady" was still singing, & how she kept singing. Espanyol scored three goals in 15 minutes to turn the match right around after playing like "crap" most of the game. The comeback began with WEISS & his 85th min goal, followed by team-mate FONTE & his 87th min goal & the winner by VERDU in the 89th min.

Now, its all up for the 2º leg match at the home ground of Mirandes. The atmosphere will be electric no doubt, a magical Spanish Cup game.
