SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE RESULTS | ROUND 7 SUNDAY NIGHT

Big Sunday of Round 7 SPANISH FOOTBALL action with the remaining 5 games of LA LIGA played with interesting results, action & goals. Here are quick briefs of the events with all the results & scorers.

Spain Football
Fernando Llorente (At Bilbao)

The Big "Basque Derby" went to ATHLETIC DE BILBAO which visited REAL SOCIEDAD & won 1 - 2. Typical tense match as one would expect between these fierce "local" rivals that saw FERNANDO LLORENTE scored both goals in the 33 rd min & 70th min to steer Bilbao home. While Real Socieded managed their only goal via IÑIGO MARTINEZ in the 61st min.

Spanish league
Betis - Levante

REAL BETIS
keeps "losing steam" losing to LEVANTE 0 - 1. The latter is surprising high up on the classification table notching up a string of wins which included Real Madrid weeks back. The goal & winner for Levante came via JUANLU in the 33th min & from here they managed to keep at bay Betis which tried it all to get back.

Spanish Football
Falcao misses against Sevilla FC

ATLETICO DE MADRID & SEVILLA FC finished in a 0 - 0 draw, & justly as both sides failed dismally to finish off some great goal opportunities. Apart from the lack of accuracy, both goalkeepers Courtois (ATM) & Varas (Sevilla) were outstanding & made some incredible great saves.

Notable misses; Reyes for Atletico in the 10th min & Falcao at the start of the 2ºhalf, plus Jesus Navas for Sevilla.

Spanish
Adriano

REAL SPORTING DE GIJON hosted FC BARCELONA & lost 0 -1 , to the only goal scored for the match by ADRIANO in the 11th min. Barça started without Puyol & Pique, & Cesc Fabregas was not even considered due to his injury a couple of days back.

Sporting moved & played with their heart tonight , they tried everything , but Barça even at 75% is too much as the latter attempted to play their game while Gijon built a defensive wall to at least stop the "leaks". The final outcome? Another loss to Sporting which has started really bad this season & are at the bottom of the ladder.

Spanish Football
Gonzalo Higuain

RCD ESPANYOL hosted REAL MADRID to lose 0 - 4 to a more efficient & rapidly striking visiting side. The Real Madrid team gave signs early of their intentions when Ronaldo hit the post with a wicked strike. They continued controlling proceedings until HIGUAIN scored from a Ronaldo pass that Espanyol claimed was previously hand-ball in the 17th min. Then for some unknown visible reason Real Madrid sat on their laurels & defended more than look for another goal. Naturally, Espanyol grew & gave Real goalie Iker Casillas more work than expected with the need to do some important saves.

The second half saw Real Madrid switch back to attacking mode & worked things better as Espanyol looked somewhat lethargic relatively speaking. The second goal & "sealer" came from a quick counter-attack in the 66th min that HIGUAIN finished with a snap goal that was perfectly executed into the back of the net.

Then Real Madrid did another "counter-attack" party piece as the ball was whipped out from defence long range style to see Cristiano Ronaldo spirit , get the ball, shift aside the defender with a "fancy" move to find incoming CALLEJON ( ex Espanyol) to scored the third. Simply deadly finishing.

However, while Espanyol was "desperately" looking for the final whistle, a defensive mistake by Espanyol allowed HIGUAIN to get the ball to chip over Espanyol goalie Alvarez for his third in the 89th min & thus grabbing his HAT-TRICK.
