U-20 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS | COSTA RICA 1 SPAIN 4 | GROUP C

The SPANISH FOOTBALL U- 20 NATIONAL TEAM kicked off its participation in the FIFA U - 20 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS being held in Colombia with 1 - 4 victory over COSTA RICA in their Group C match. Good start as a win is vital to release the nerves & be able to meet your other Group opponents with some relative "ease" in the pressure.

The match was relatively well controlled by Spain,  with a "sticky" & dangerous Costa Rica being kept under control. Spain took the lead in the 14th min when youngster RODRIGO scored & stamped the Spanish authority on the game. Things continued as the half finished with a quick goal in the 48th min by RODRIGO who notched up his second for the match.

Then Spain went through a "rough" patch which started when JOHN RUIZ pulled a goal back for Costa Rica in the 65th min. This made Spain nervous & Costa Rica hit the "wood-work" in the 74th min from a shoot from GOLOBIO that nearly gave the equalizer.

Spain managed to regain its play & scored the important third goal via KOKE in the 82nd min & then another via a penalty which ISCO converted to fully seal the game.

NEXT MATCH: Ecuador - Spain - 4th of August
