Sergio Aguero for Atletico de Madrid |
Firstly, if it was Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, Man Utd or AC Milan, you would think congratulations. However, it is Atletico de Madrid, a Club with a "debt" & Club that recently lowered from 65M€ to 45M€ the players contract release clause to allow the player to leave if an offer did arise. There´s more "incoherency". Rumours are strong that Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC , Juventus...have the player in mind for next season. So what's the pay rise about? Smoke signals to the fan-base of a long-term commitment?
If Atletico de Madrid does not finish in Euro positions this season - & in the case of Aguero in Champions positions - on the Spanish League ladder, the player has more chances of leaving than staying next season. A player of Aguero´s calibre & class cannot afford to stay too long away from Champions League - the Worlds maximum Football stage - for more seasons. Atletico de Madrid unfortunately cannot guarantee Aguero that "ticket", & if they could, Atletico cannot guarantee the ride would be long.
Stay tuned!
