SPANISH FOOTBALL celebrates mid week LIGA action with Round 26 being split up into three days. Tonight the Spanish League had two matches with the following brief summary of events, results & scorers.

Webo scores for Real Mallorca

RCD ESPANYOL
suffered a defeat in their "home fort" against REAL MALLORCA after the latter made a comeback to win 1 -2. Espanyol started on fire with their goal coming early in the 18th min via ALVARO VAZQUEZ, but they went from good to less as the match went on. The reason was Mallorca with its more determined & effective play that saw the rewards to their efforts come in the 62nd min when WEBO equalized & in the 82nd min via NSUE & the winner.

SEVILLA FC continue their improvement in the Spanish League with a "comfortable"  3 - 0 victory over REAL SPORTING DE GIJON. However there was an important moment in the match that was decisive for Sevilla & put Gijon behind the 8 ball since; the red card to Gijon defender EGUREN that left his team with 10 men in the 27th min. That red card lead to a penalty which LUIS FABIANO converted in the 28th min, & from here onwards Sevilla exploited the spaces & the tiredness of a Gijon team which had to run more to stop the "flood gates".

It wasn´t long before Sevilla got a second via PEROTTI in the 35th min & the final nail came with NEGREDO in the 65th min with his teams third goal. Sporting did well to keep it down to three but will be disappointed with the "red card situation" that put things uphill.

The bulk of Round 26 Spanish League matches happen tomorrow night, were I will attempt to post ( maybe difficult)  as I have been invited precisely to a Sporting de Gijon dinner at Gijon to celebrated a "fan night" of which I am a member,  & were players, the legendary Quini & media will be invited.  I may find myself a bit busy to post or find an internet channel, but will post pictures perhaps Thursday.
