SPANISH FOOTBALL action this Sunday via LA LIGA & its Round 25 with four matches scheduled. Here is a brief summary of events, the results & the scorers.
Caicedo scores for Levante |
LEVANTE settled their game with OSASUNA in 10 explosive minutes with a 2 -1 victory. The game reached its maximum height in the 41st min when PANDIANI put Osasuna ahead. Then Levante reacted in deadly fashion with an equalizer in the 44th min via BALLESTEROS & the second via CAICEDO in the 49th min that served as the winner.
Hercules - Getafe in La Liga action |
If something has characterised Round 25 of the Spanish League it has been the high results that have ended in a draw. The match between GETAFE & HERCULES finished 0 - 0 with the usual level of chances & opportunities to both sides that simply cancelled themselves out.
Racing - Villareal |
Mentioning drawn results, we saw another between RACING DE SANTANDER & VILLAREAL with a 2 - 2 scoreline. However, this match was different because it was a cliff-hanger & we saw how Racing allowed the victory to slip through their fingers.
Racing had the match fairly well under control up until the 60th min mark that included beforehand an early goal by ARIEL in the 3rd min. Villareal is a "never-give-up" squad & pulled an equalizer via MARCO RUBEN in the 66th min. But Racing was still sailing with their earlier momentum & scored a second via GIOVANI in the 68th min to go ahead. It then turned into an end to end game with Villareal goalie Diego Lopez putting in a great match to hold out Racing & in the 92nd min NILMAR scored the equalizer for Villareal.
Fantastic match of Spanish Football even if it was "another" draw.
Fernando Llorente scores for Bilbao |
Excellent match between ATHLETIC DE BILBAO & VALENCIA CF with the latter overrunning a tired home team who should have killed off Valencia earlier but let them off the hook. Bilbao lost 1 - 2 to Valencia because they did not finish off the business, with posts hit, lots of goal chances & a Valencia goalie Guaita who was inspired.
FERNANDO LLORENTE put Bilbao ahead in the 13th min & from here onwards had Valencia against the ropes with numerous goal opportunities.
Soldado for Valencia CF |
The game was fought hard in the midfield & there was the usual controversial referee decisions. However, Bilbao paid for their physical efforts & were "slowing" down in intensity which gave wings to Valencia. MATA equalized in the 70th min & JONAS put the visitors ahead in the 81st min which turned out to be the winner.
Valencia are showing that they are firm third place candidates in the Spanish League.
