REAL MADRID played another Friendly pre-season match against Belgium Champions STANDARD LIEGE which finished in a 1-1 draw. The Spanish team went in with a "B -side" version in the 1ºst half that ironically played somewhat better than the theoretical stronger line-up of the 2ºhalf with Ronaldo, Xabi, Khedira, Canales, Di Maria...etc.
It was Dutch midfielder RAFAEL VAN DER VAART who put Real ahead in the 12th min from a great executed free-kick. In fact the Dutchman was one of his teams better players until he was substituted in the early 2ºhalf, showing that he has a place in this "new" Real Madrid regardless of the speculation on his immediate future.
Standard Liege also did some 2ºhalf changes which better their side & play earning a reward in the 77th min when BENTEKE headed a brilliant goal to equalize & surprise the Real defenders. Real Madrid attempted the winner & came close many times but were not sharp in the last 10 mts, something that will obviously improve in coming games.
