It was posted here a few months back when the news was picked up from Spanish TV late-night Football show “Punto Pelota”. The fuzz has reappeared this time in the Spanish Sports paper “AS” that REAL MADRID has its eye on ATHLETIC DE BILBAO midfielder JAVI MARTINEZ.
The 21 year old player has just been called up to the Spanish National Football Team after exploding this season with his Club. Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their midfield for next season as the future of players like Gago, M.Diarra & Lass Diarra are in the air. According to the news source, expected new Real Madrid Coach & current Inter Milan “chief”, José Mourinho has already asked about the player & has given his personal green lightThe player has a 30M€ contract release clause that Real Madrid wishes to negotiate downward with Athletic de Bilbao. In a worst case scenario, according to Spanish Football rules, if Bilbao refuse to negotiate & the player accepts the Real Madrid offer, all that the Madrid Club has to do is place 30M€ with the Spanish Liga Federation & the player is theirs & free from his obligations . Obviously, Real desires to be cordial & correct with Bilbao & wishes to avoid this last resort action
The player has strength , touch , aerial power & goal to which the Madrid Club thinks will complement perfectly Xabi Alonso in the midfield. Alternatives being rumoured in case the Martinez option fails is AC Roma midfielder De Rossi & Liverpool FC Captain Steven Gerrard. Stay tuned. Tweet

I would trade both Gago and M. Diarra to get Sneijder back, but De Rossi / Martinez would be great as well. Just leave Gerrard out of the picture.
