Many readers may have noticed in yesterdays Racing vs. Real Madrid match that Higuain was substituted in the 89th min for a junior level player. Well, it was not just any “ordinary junior level player”, it was the official debut of MARCOS ALONSO MENDOZA, a youngman with Football in his DNA & a long tradition that spans back 2 generations in Spanish Football & with connections to Real Madrid.
The grandfather of Marcos Alonso Mendoza was Real Madrid legend “MARQUITOS” who won 5 European Cups, 1 Inter-Continental & 6 Leagues from 1954 to 1962. His father Marcos Alonso Sr. played for Atletico de Madrid in 2 periods, FC Barcelona & Logrones to be a “star” in his time.
Yesterday Marcos Alonso Jr. took on the generational Football baton & began the long & difficult journey to attempt make a successful career, & most difficult of all, live up to the expectations (at times exaggerated). From here I wish him all the luck in the World.
