Spanish Football - Soccer - experienced another hard knock in CHAMPIONS LEAGUE tonight with the elimination of SEVILLA FC after losing 1-2 ( 2-3 agg) to CSKA MOSCOW. The Spaniards hosted the Russians in the return leg with a 1-1 aggregate that included the valuable away goal, but it was not enough as the Russians managed to do their job with "some luck" that does not take away anything from their win.

Sevilla FC started full steam ahead & Luis Fabiano missed a sitter earlier which as always you´ll remember when one loses the game. It was the Moscow player NECID that scored first in the 39th min & sent the first warning shot.

Sevilla reacted with a quick goal & equalized via PEROTTI in the 41st min that calmed the nerves. It looked clear sailing in the 2ºhalf, until CSKA Japanese player HONDA scored the Russian second after the usually safe Sevilla goalkeeper Palop fumbled a silly ball. That was about it, the Russians then went into defence mode.

From here onwards it was all nerves & all rush as Sevilla FC attacked in waves but could not score a goal to force the extra-time. In the end, the exhaustion set in & made the spirits die off as the clock clicked towards the end.

Result? Sevilla FC knocked out unfortunately as one could argue they were the "better" team, but the Champions League is much more complicated than all this. Spanish Football now has one representive left in the competition which plays tomorrow, FC Barcelona & they also have a stiff night ahead.
