Barcelona clash taking the spotlight over the rest of the games.
ATLETICO DE MADRID defeated 2-1 FC BARCELONA in an exciting
& nerve breaking match, especially for Atletico fans. The Madrid team
indirectly has put back excitment into the "Liga" by allowing its city
rival Real Madrid to get back to only 2ºpoints behind Barça in the
classification table.
FC Barcelona could not have started worst when Keita was injured
in the first minutes of the match. Atletico took full advantage of
the "weakened" Barça midfield & defence to score early & first by
DIEGO FORLAN in the 9th min. Atletico was on a roll & missed various
clear chances that made fans think the worst, but SIMAO scored the
second in the 22nd min with a superb free-kick. Watch below VIDEO

However, FC Barcelona has still many class players & pulled out their
Champions pride to pull one back via IBRAHIMOVIC in the 29th min.
From here it was end to end stuff with Atletico managing to hold off
Barça & remain solid under pressure until the end.
Special mention to Aguero who again ran all night & although he missed
clear chances was an example, mention to Simao, Reyes, goalie De
Gea & Tiago (with the rest playing their best Football for some time).
Serious blow to Barça who now may feel the pressure from Real
Madrid. The "Liga" is again wide-open!

SEVILLA FC won OSASUNA 1-0 with a brilliant header from LUIS
FABIANO in the 34th min that brings them back to Champions League
classification positions on the ladder. A low score, but Sevilla did the
necessary job.
MALAGA put in one of their best games to beat RACING DE
SANTANDER 3-0 in strong fashion. The goals came from
WELINGTON (8th min), CAICEDO (34th min) & OBINNA
(66th min). Their happy down at Malaga, for sure!
GETAFE let off the hook ALMERIA with a 2-2 draw. Getafe played
well scoring two goals - CASQUERO (55th min) & SOLDADO
(70th min) - after Almeria got ahead first via PIATTI in the 47th min.
But a terrible mistake by Getafe goalkeeper Codina in the 92nd min
allowed SORIANO to equalize & grab a value point. Getafe will not
be happy at all!
RCD ESPANYOL continue with their good form after defeating a very
poor & disappointing DEPORTIVO 2-0. Goals came thanks to VERDU
in the 38th min & CALLEJON (above) in the 59th min.
The two lower & less performing teams this season, VALLADOLID
& REAL ZARAGOZA, played out a 1-1 draw. Valladolid scored first
via DIEGO COSTA in the 32nd min & Zaragoza equalized in the 38th
min with a great goal from SUAZO.
Spanish Football begins with "Monday Night Football" tomorrow when
Tenerife & Mallorca play to shut Round 22.
