Serious setback for VALENCIA CF who travelled to REAL SPORTING
DE GIJÓN & drew 1-1 missing out on 2 valuable points. The home
team got off to a dream start with a 5th min goal by DIEGO CASTRO.
From here, Valencia recovered from the initial shock to find itself
hitting the post twice & have Sporting goalie Juan Pablo stop
everthing else.
Valencia´s hard work paid off in the 76th min when MATA managed to
equalize & at least be able to comeback home with a point, although
that would not have comfort them at all.

A vital 0-3 victory for REAL MADRID over the home team XEREZ
after overcoming a poor playing field saturated & soft due to the rain
the last few days & with a defensive set up by Xerez that made things
difficult & boring for the first 45 mins with a scoreless 1ºhalf.
This changed in the 2ºhalf with Real Madrid lifting gears & opening up
the Xerez "defensive can" with a goal by defender ARBELOA in the
63rd min. Then it was the Kaká & CRISTIANO RONALDO show with the
former setting up the latter for the Portuguese to score two goals in
the 70th & 71st min.
In fact, Cristiano Ronaldo was brilliant tonight with movements all
over the place & a "one eyed" determination to lift his team. Granero
also did a nice job all night with the already mentioned Kaká.
Real Madrid now cut back Barça´s lead to just 2º points & await to see
if City rival Atletico can defeat FC Barcelona tomorrow night.

VILLAREAL managed to defeat ATHLETIC DE BILBAO 2-1 with the
game turning "violent" with 4 expulsions ( 3 red cards for
Bilbao - including Coach Caparros - & 1 for Villareal) after Bilbao
missed a penalty that would have meant the equalizer in the 88th
min.
Villareal got ahead first with a goal in the 4th min by CAPDEVILA,
but was answered by a 35mt "cracker" from Bilbao player GABILONDO
in the 24th min. But Villareal dominanted there after & NILMAR
scored Villareal´s second in the 45th min.
Villareal continued its dominance & Nilmar missed further chances to
wrap it all up. Then in the 87th min a penalty by Villareal defender
Venta on Bilbao youngster Munain was later stopped by Villareal goalie
Diego Lopez & the frustration overtook the Bilbao team that helped
turn the last 2 minutes into a push, shove & punch affair that lead to 3
red cards. Disgrateful finish to what had been a good match, a game
that in SFS opinion Villareal deserved to win.
