REAL MADRID: POSITIVE SIGNALS? PERHAPS?

Some observations from last weekends Real Madrid’s 2- 0 victory over
Getafe in Round 9 of "La Liga":

1. Raul started on the bench
2. Guti wasn’t called up at all. Stayed home.
3. Real Madrid started with Higuaín & Benzema upfront together
with good results. They seemed to connect!
4. Real Madrid played better with 10 men.
5. Sergio Ramos plays better as a Central Defender
6. Kaká is finally in his natural position.
7. The victory “calmed” the team for the future & “saved” the
head of Coach Pellegrini for the moment.

With Raul on the bench from the start it gave Higuain &/or
Benzema an opportunity to show their stuff together. Benzema
plays better without Raúl, & Higuaín is the current inform player
up forward again scoring & with two great goals. Added to this,
the fact that Real were down early with 10 men forced some
tactical changes; e.g. Sergio Ramos as Central Defender, a position
where he plays better & secures more the Real defence, & the 10 men
“forced” the team to run & maintain themselves mentally disciplined.
Plus, the game with one man less, & an the opponent looking to score,
opened up the field & Real gained in spaces where Benzema, Higuain
& especially Kaká are more comfortable.

Some brief conclusions:
1. Raul should start on the bench for the service of his team & allow
other players like Higuain & Benzema room in the starting line-up. In
the case of Higuaín, to continue benefiting from his progression &
goal scoring form, & with Benzema to continue building up his
confidence & team adaptation.

2. Utilize more Sergio Ramos as a Central defender with Arbeloa
taking his right back position.

3. Allow Kaká free reign in the central midfield just behind the two
upfront forwards.

4. Coach Pellegrini should try again the same team as Getafe for
tomorrows AC Milan clash, with Ramos as Central Defender …Higuain
& Benzema upfront.

Lastly, on a slightly indirect but still relevant note, Guti has been left
out of the team list again, this time for tomorrow’s big Champions
League match against AC Milian. This could turn into a “Riquelme Case
II”, where Pellegrini parted & never again allowed the Argentine
player to play for Villareal ever again. In fact, Riquelme had to leave
Spanish Football due to his “bad professional” ways & indisciplined
manners that made him “clash” with Pellegrini. Guti could be on the
same way out, after his bad educated, lack of discipline &
unprofessional attitude towards his Coach last week in the humiliating
4-0 defeat to 3ºrd Division team Alcorcon in the Spanish Club. If
Coach Pellegrini is determined & willing to “good all the way” with
Guti & part him from the team permanently, he could win back some
credibility & discipline from the Real Madrid dressing room. This
maybe the answer to the “inhouse” problems & at the same time
rid the dressing room of a problematic & disappointing player
who has never given his full potential & has let down many who
have supported him. It would be a clear signal & eliminate a distraction
that is a negative element.
