DE BILBAO. The Basque team is a historical Club in the Spanish
League & after fighting to stay out of 2ºDivision last year, is now
experiencing an early 2009-2010 revival - in League & Europa Legaue -
that is comforting & worth mentioning.
For the last 15 years JOSEBA ETXEBERRIA has been a firm pillar of
the Team & has notched up his 500th game for Bilbao last Thursday
night in the Europa League clash against the Austrians with a 3-0
victory. A milestone that is worthy of praise for a player that has
been a Spanish International, an example to youngsters & of the Club
values. Joseba Etxeberria has now 32 years & the “engine” may not
be as fresh as earlier years, but his experience is helping the Club
& its youngsters find their place within the team. One of those young
“turks” is IKER MUNIAIN who with just 16 years of age is catching the
eyes of all the fans & media who comment that he is destined for
big things. No doubt Etxeberria will be close to guide the “new star”
in the coming years.
From SFS congratulations “Etxeba” for your 500th game with Athletic
