INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: AZERBAIJAN 0 - SPAIN 6 (See Video)

The Spanish National Football Team continues unbeaten since
November of 2006 notching up today its 32nd consecutive victory
away to AZERBAIJAN 0-6. The only team ahead of SPAIN with the
most consecutive victories is Brazil who managed to string 34
straight wins back in 1997.

Today’s International friendly was a warm up for Coach Del Bosque´s
boys as they fly off to South Africa to participate in the FIFA
Confederations Cup tournament that begins on the 14th of June. The
Spanish side will be without two key men – Iniesta & Marcos Senna -
& today served to experiment in the midfield, “grease up” the
players & get the confidence levels up.

Azerbaijan played bravely & had some chances early, before Spain
began getting its game together & DAVID VILLA scored a HAT TRICK
before half time, concretely in the 34th, 38th & 45th min with the
last being a penalty. This takes David Villa´s goal tally with the
National side to 28 goals & makes him the 3ºrd highest scorer in
the National teams history, one behind Fernando Hierro with 29
goals, with first place belonging to Raul with 44 goals.

The second half Spain dominated & gave rest to players like Villa,
Cazorla, Capdevila, Casillas, etc to give a run to others like Busquets,
Xavi, Ramos, Reina, Pujoy, Guiza, etc. The goals continued with
RIERA scoring in the 67th min, followed by GUIZA in the 71st & the
final goal being scored by FERNANDO TORRES in the 87th min.

Names to highlight apart from Villa are Carzola back from injury ,
Alonso, Riera & Marchena who all put in a great match which should
brighten up the spirits running up to the Confederations Cup
tournament.

Villa is hot. I just hope Madrid don`t sign him before Barca.
