REAL MADRID & ITS FUTURE: PEREZ, ELECTIONS, SIGNINGS & PROJECT

Spanish daily’s “AS” & “Marca” (see cover below) today publishes
information that affects the future of REAL MADRID. The Saturday
night 2-6 defeat at the hands of FC BARCELONA hailed a shift in
the “Balance of Power” of Spanish Football & signalled the moment
to implement radical changes within the Clubs managerial & team
structures. The 14 th of June is a key date as it is the day that Real
Madrid Club members vote for their new President & his proposed
team of managers, sporting directives & their respective future
team projects.

It is speculated that ex-Real Madrid President Florentino Perez will
present himself again for re-election & will do so officially & publicly
in the next week, the
14th of May. The ex-President is the hot
favourite with all the surveys giving him a landslide victory & thus has
"halted" many others from presenting themselves as they have little to
do against such immense expressed popularity. Remember, Florentino
Perez created & “reigned” (2000-2006) during the “Galatico” period
when he put together in one team stars like Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo,
Beckham, etc & gave the Club Leagues, European Cup titles & placed
Real as the biggest Club in the World both economically & socially.

It has been written in the press for the last months that Florentino
Perez has been working in the shadows & behind the scenes in getting
together his team & shutting deals with various key actors & World
class players in order to have his "new project" all tied up to be able
to present the whole package officially before the June 14th election
date.

His team is said to include Jorge Valdano as his Club Director-General
& Zinedine Zidane as the Clubs World Ambassador & public image.
In what concerns the REAL MADRID Football team, the issue of the
new Coach is turning out to be the most difficult aspect to shut at
this moment. Arsenal Manager ARSENE WEGNER has rejected two
offers because he won’t have same authority & powers as he has now
at his current Club, however “Marca” publish that there is still a
chance & the door isn´t totally shut. The other candidate AC Milan
CARLO ANCELOTTI has an offer from Chelsea FC which is making the
Italian take his time to think carefully his final decision. In reference
to the actual team & future player signings, the plan is to do some
“spring cleaning” to raise funds &/or lower transfer fees to bring
two to three World Class players – Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka,
Ribery, etc - & bring back to Real a more “Spanish Flavour” with
players like Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, David Villa, Negredo
(Almeria) or David Silva (Valencia). These are possible signings that
Florentino Perez & his team are working on & negotiating at this
moment to make them reality, however the demands from their
individual Clubs in economic terms, the players & representative
wishes & the fierce competition from other Clubs are making things
“difficult” & not so straight forward, thus forcing us all to have to
wait to finally see what is rumour & what is truth.

Stay tuned, as it will all be revealed in the coming days
