Manchester United vs Manchester City Premier League game
yesterday has attracted special attention here in Spain. It is no
secret – or at least media have been confirming it all season – that
Ronaldo has a pre-contract signed already with Real Madrid & is
expected to arrive there next season. It was part of a secret pact
between his Coach Ferguson & the player to stick it out another
season, in return to be “let go” at the end of the 2008/09 season.
However, after viewing this video & the players reaction, is Real
Madrid sure they really need to have Cristiano Ronaldo? Yesterday’s
behaviour was unsportsmanlike & very unprofessional, it highlighted
an egotistical side of Ronaldo that also showed disrespect for his
team-mates & the institution he represents. The young man perhaps
did not see the “bigger” picture as commented later by Ferguson
that Manchester United & Ronaldo have still the Premier title to
secure & the European Cup Final at the end of May & it is wise to
give rest to key players.
interpretations while he deliberately twisted & turned his face
with disgust knowing perfectly well that he was calling the
attention of the cameras to let the whole World know that things
may never be the same again. There is now an excuse to build
upon & begin the process of detachment from the Manchester
United “World”, a reason to make fans understand that he has
outgrown the Club, helped to give them titles & needs now new
stimulus.
These maybe the reasons, but a real gentleman, a true
professional & a Champion does not need to resort to theatrics
with childish like behaviour. It makes lots of people think; is
this the type of player that Real Madrid needs, will Ronaldo be
able to handle the extreme pressures of the Spanish Club & the
Spanish League? The answer is who cares. People have a short
memory & forget, what is vital here for Real Madrid & the fans
are the goals that Ronaldo can score, the sponsors that he can
attract, the shirts he can sell, the titles he can bring , etc & etc.
It´s unfortunate that modern Football is like this, but its the
Football we ALL have asked for, therefore, we have created
Ronaldos all over the planet! Tweet

I am by no means a fan of CR7. There are instances of his playing style as well as his personality that I strongly disagree with. However, I understand his reaction here. This is a player who is highly motivated and wants to prove himself every game. He's going to want to play, no matter what. Also, remember that he is only 24 years old.
Having said that, I agree with Striker's assessment completely. He took it too far and shamed himself and his club by acting out in such a public manner. This was something to discuss with Ferguson privately. While I think that at 24 you might not be quite mature enough to deal with such public scrutiny he is also not a toddler to have acted that way.
