personally the era of the grand REAL MADRID of the “Galacticos” of
Mr. Florentino Perez. He also felt personally the decision from the same man
to sell him to Chelsea, a decision that was positive for the English Club & a
disaster for Real Madrid. Many – including myself – claim that since Makelele
left Real Madrid hasn’t recovered the equilibrium of the midfield & that has
been directly responsible for its European decline. The characteristics of
Makelele made him unique in World Football; incredible resistance & strength
that enabled him to stop (destroy) the attacking plays of the opposition &
cover the backs of the defensive wings with complete guarantees. Yes, Mr.Perez
sold the Clubs most valuable tactical player!

Now Claude Makelele sends a message & wishes to let history know the truth
as to the why of such mistake by Real Madrid … “Florentino made fun of me.
I did´nt make him sell Club shirts, as such, I did not interest him”.The Clubs
version at the time was the excessive economic demands from the Frenchmen
that caused his departure, a demand that with time proved to be very costly &
would have been cheaper to have paid his demands & stayed at the Club.
Mr.Florentino also did something comparable with the then Liga & European
Cup winning Coach Del Bosque (now Spanish National Team selector) he fired
him because the “Club needed a person with a more International profile”. The
chosen person was Portuguese Coach Quieroz (then Nº2 behind Ferguson at
Man Utd.) which turned out to be another disaster.
