EL MUNDANO DEPORTIVO - YES, WE CAN II

SFS publishes today its bi-monthly post by collaborator Adrian Vogel with
his "El Mundano Deportivo". Today he summons the Sporting Gods with
optimism to illustrate that "La Liga" is still very
much alive & not at all a
done deal.

Adrian has his own Blog - "
El Mundano"- written in Spanish & will
answer all your questions by leaving a comment below, SFS will forward
them on. You don´t have to agree, as you many suspect El Mundano
has a touch of "whiteness" over his pen & you may wish to reassert your
own point of view. I guarentee Adrian will be delighted : )

Yes, We Can 2 (El Mundano Deportivo for SFS by Adrian Vogel)

The only thing worst than starting something and failing... is
not starting
something.” (Seth Godin)

Real Madrid’s chances in its pursuit of Barcelona are intact, even though
there are fewer games left for the end of the season. I have to confess I
had my worries after the collapse against Liverpool, but after watching the
“reds” performance at Old Trafford I started to feel better about my side.
Saturday’s game at San Mamés –the Spanish equivalent to Anfield Road
- was a real key test for Real. Not only from a psychological point of view
but also physically speaking.

The team which started the chase to win the Liga regrouped after its
Champions defeat appealing to its historic epic spirit, they won “the battle”
against Athletic Bilbao (2-5) in the first of its next12 finals. The “Dutch
connection” worked wonders (Huntelaar, Robben and Snjeider) and are
a sign of hope for the remaining 11 games.

The only way to keep the pressure on Barcelona is to keep winning games
(and the draw against Atlético de Madrid was a two point set back),
because Real Madrid’s schedule is not easy at all with away games against
Sevilla, Valencia, Villareal or Osasuna (they all seem to be beforehand
major obstacles). Plus the home game versus Barça at the beginning of
May should be decisive. If everything works as we dream “that’ll be day
as the late Buddy Holly sung (using the sentence that John Wayne’s
character says repeatedly in John Ford’s 1956 film,
The Searchers).

Yes we can! Or can’t we? Is it all wishful thinking or it´s Real Madrid’s duty
with its own history and recent past? Just remember that it all begun when
we were 12 points behind. Now, even after Barcelona’s impressive
performance at Almería, the difference is cut by half to six points with 33
points left in play. Barça also have the added mental “worry” that will be
their upcoming Champions quarterfinals. We (unfortunately) have only one
competition in sight. From our point of view it’s worth the try (following
Seth Godin’s suggestion).
