FC BARCELONA
go through to the Q/Finals of the Champions League
after defeating OLYMPIQUE DE LYON 5-2 (aggregate 6-3). The job
was all done in the first half with spectacular upfront play by Barça that
was absolute magic.

THIERRY HENRY is back, he scored twice in the space of two minutes
to put his team on course ( 24th & 26th min). Then MESSI got into the
act with a brilliant one-two to score in the 39th min.

SAMUEL ETO´O
got back onto the scoring sheet in the 42th min to
put the cherry on the cake.

Lyon made an effort & were not deterred when MAKOUN scored his
teams first in the 43th min & JUNINHO gave hope with his teams second
in the 48th min. However, it was Barça´s night & KEITA scored Barça´s
fifth in the 94th min.

SEE VIDEO OF GOAL HIGHLIGHTS:

Barça are now favourites along with Manchester United.

ATLETICO DE MADRID drew 0-0
away to OPORTO & were knocked
out on aggregate 2-2 with the Portugues away goals dominating. The
Spaniards only needed to score & they could´nt even manage that, as
Coach
Abel Resino mysteriously decided to leave Diego Forlan on the
bench.

Oporto quite frankly was the better team, & would have scored had it
not been for the great saves of Atletico goalkeeper LEO FRANCO. The
Spaniards may complain that Simao was not awarded a penalty in the
24th min, but it is no excuse.

Atletico brought on Forlan in the second half to find the goal & Maniche
late ( another mystery) but Oporto
frustrated all their attempts.
A disappointing end to the Champions League
run for Atletico who will
now concentrate on the local League to ensure that they can
participate
again next year. Something that at this point also looks a
difficult
proposition.
