SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA - ROUND 8/2007 SATURDAY RESULTS

The Spanish 1º Division League - "La Liga" - is back in action with
Round 8 Saturday games, that have given goals & surprises.

FC BARCELONA visited VILLAREAL & lost 3-1 to a great &
inspired home team. Barça suffered from the exodus & late return
of its Internationals who either returned injuried or tired.
However, its no excuse, as Villareal were brilliant in the counter-

attacks & opened up a "leaky" Barça defense tonight.
The 1º goal come in the 2ºmin after CAZORLA scored via a
magnificent one two with Pires. Villareal continued attacking &
in the 12th min Pires was fouled in the area by Abidal & given
a penalty which SENNA ( pictured) transformed. Barça gave away
another penalty in the 33rd min after Milito fouled again Pires,
which SENNA scored for his second for the night. Grand night
for Senna, Bruno who dominated the midfield & Pires who was
exceptional.
Barcelona tired at times via MESSI who was unlucky & BOJAN who
managed to score Barça only goal & award the young 17 year old

after debuting in the starting line - up. Lastly, more bad news with
the injury of Deco who will be out for 5 weeks with a muscle tear.

DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA continue their bad start with another
defeat at the hands of the "bulldozing"
VALENCIA CF 2 - 4.
Valencia sentenced the game in the 1º half with 3 goals from
JOAQUIN ( penalty) in the 8th min, BARAJA in the 15th min &
MORIENTES ( header from Joaquin pass) in the 37th min.
Deportivo attempted to react & manage to score its 1st of its 2 goals

in the 28th min thanks to XISCO.
The 2º half was more fought by both teams, however MORIENTES
( pictured) again scored with his head from a Joaquin pass to add
Valencia´s 4th & final goal. Deportivo were rewarded for their
bettered play with a late 87th min goal by
BODIPO.
Deportivo are in a worrying position & need to better, while Valencia are
finding their game & Joaquin is adding value thanks to his fine form.

Another team with serious problems is LEVANTE who lost to
SEVILLA FC 0 - 2. Sevilla sentenced the game in the first 15 mins

thanks to 2 goals from LUIS FABIANO ( pictured) in the 6th min
from a Alves pass & a penalty in the 13th min.

In the other & last game for the tonight, we witnessed another surprise

with the victory of ESPANYOL over REAL MADRID by 2 - 1.
Espanyol played very well as a team & with added indivual skills from
men like RIERA & TAMUDO managed to dominante the Spanish league
leaders. Real Madrid were "lost" , disorganized & lacking in "spring"
upfront all game & looked messy from the start.
Espanyol started well & early, with a goal by Riera who headed in a corner
when left along in the 2nd min. From then it was an end to end match with
missed chances until Tamudo brilliantly chipped the ball over goalkeeper
Casillas in the 52nd min. Real Madrid were battered & were lucky that
Espanyol did´nt score more.
Real Madrid managed to regain some pride with a late goal by SERGIO
RAMOS
in the 90th min.
Great night for Espanyol who knotch up its 4th straight win ( has
defeated Sevilla & Valencia already) & are shaping up as the team to
watch for this season.
