Every important city has more than one football club the divides the
hearts of its citizens. In Sevilla the city is split between thoses who
follow Sevilla FC ( more wealthy & "posh") & REAL BETIS ( working
class). This fact has breed an intense rivalry that has ended in many
cases with severe violence. With the recent unfortunate death of Sevilla
FC player, Antonio Puerta, both sides have buried their "differences"
& are celebrating this special day today for Real Betis.
Today is the 100th anniversary of Real Betis Balompie, & Sevilla &
Betis fans are currently celebrating this event. Real Betis is a more
humble Club than its competitor, with only 1º "Liga" title (1934-35) &
2º "Spanish Cup" titles ( 1977 & 2005). The year 2005 was possibly
their best year ever , as seen below celebrating the Spanish Cup
victory, with a team full of great players: Joaquin, Alonso,Oliveira,
Denislson, Capi...etc.
SFS would like to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Real Betis &
may they celebrate many more in the future.
Staying with Real Betis, VILLAREAL player JOSE MARI ( pictured)
has passed his medical examination & will soon sign with the club.
The player started at Sevilla & later played with Atletico de Madrid
& AC Milan before going to Villareal. Betis hopes the forward will give
them plenty of goals this season & make the year a real Birthday
present.
