From what i have seen of the pre-season games, the defense at Real looks all over the place.
Pepe made a few 'school boy' defensive errors outside the box, by tryign to be too clever with the ball - he look like someone desperate to justify his transfer fee to me, similar to Ramos when he joined Real.
I don't feel very positive about things at Real at the moment, but I will be happy if Riquelme comes to the club, I think he is a classy big-game player (quite old and not very quick though).
It's worth pointing out (as I believe we already have on this forum) that all this desperation for a creative midfielder is interesting given that we already have 2 - Guti and Gago.
Perhaps Shuster doesn't have much faith in them - and perhaps he is right, there were several games last season where real seemed like they lacked ideas for mounting an attack on a team that were defending deeply.
I dislike Guti's arrogant attitude and he suffers from inconsistency. Granted, when he plays well, he is amazing.
I haven't made my mind up about Gago, he often looks completely swamped and scared in Liga games, I suspect he just needs time, I have no doubts about his talent. Without regular games though he won't develop.
Evo i think Gago is more of a Center Mifield player and not much of a playmaker. Guti is way too inconsistant. Riquelme would be good if we have a deal for the future to sign Nasri because Riquelme would be a short term fix. I heard that Nasri has verbally agreed to moved to madrid but for season 08/09.

in Boca he did the distribution from DM position just like Pirlo's deep lying playmaker role in Milan. After Gago left, it was Banega, and Banega did the same deal in U-20 WC.
Playmakers today don't have to come from traditional positions. Zidane, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Robinho can all be considered playmakers.
The Riquelme to Real Madrid move doesn't seem very probable nowadays. As long as he wanted to play in Boca, there's always shady ways to keep him in Argentina.
Villarreal isn't really worrying about that either. We have other problems to take care of.
kaka issue isn't 100% settled yet, there's still chance for Real Madrid.

i totally agree with u madrid should go for requelme as a short term fix and net season take nasri or probably sign him now and loan him back to marsille what do u think?
