UEFA CUP DRAW: SPANISH TEAMS KNOW THEIR OPPONENTS

Spanish teams Real Zaragoza, Villareal, Getafe, At.Madrid &
Sevilla FC ( if they do not qualify for Champions) all know
their opponents for the UEFA Cup, after the draw held in Monaco
earlier today.
On paper Zaragoza & Getafe got the tougher teams, & puts it difficult
for them to secure their place & go through into the Uefa "little
leagues" qualifiers.

made public the squad of 20 players taht will defend the colours
for the next 2 vital EURO 2008 Group games against Iceland &
Latvia.

SPANISH FOOTBALL TRANSFER NEWS & ROUND 2º /2007 FIXTURE

The transfer season ends tonight at 00.00 hours for Spanish Football
& 2 big names have still their futures uncertain: Daniel Alves &
Riquelme. The latter has a verbal agreement with Atletico, but it is´nt
yet been formalized.
It´s common practice in Spain to surprise everyone in the last minute
with a star signning that grabs the attention of local & world media :

EUROPEAN CUP: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW 2007/08

The 2007/08 season European Cup ( Champions League) draw
has been held in Monaco with an interesting result for Spanish
teams Real Madrid, Fc Barcelona, Valencia CF & hopefully Sevilla FC.

GROUP B is VALENCIA CF slot & they will play Chelsea, Schalke
& Rosenborg. Tough group with very strong teams were the
concentration will need to be 100%.

GROUP C is REAL MADRID´s slot with Werder Bremen, Lazio
& Olympiakos. On paper, Real should not have much problems.

GROUP E is FC BARCELONA´s slot with O.Lyon, Stuttgart &
Glasgow Rangers. In principal, O.Lyon could be the hard nut to
crack in this group.

GROUP H could be SEVILLA FC slot ( if they qualify defeating
Aek Athens on Monday). Here the other teams will be Arsenal,
Steaua & S.Praga.

In conclusion, one thing is assured, there will be some fantastic
clashes up ahead.

VOJVODINA 1 - ATLETICO DE MADRID 2 - 2º LEG UEFA CUP QUALIFIER (See Video)

ATLETICO DE MADRID has made it, they will be in Europe
defending the colours in the UEFA CUP competition, after
defeating Serbian side VOJVODINA 1-2 in the 2º leg game
(Atletico win 5-1 on aggregate)

Atletico went in with a 3 goal advantage from the 1º leg & looked
relaxed until Serb BUAC scored for Vojvodina in the 38min.
Atletico "got serious" & LUIS GARCIA scored the equalizer to
halt any Serb ideas of a comeback, & RAUL GARCIA sentenced
in the 74th min with the winner.

Great news for all Atletico foillowers & Spanish Football. Here

JOAN GAMPER TROPHY. FC BARCELONA 5 - INTER MILAN 0

FC BARCELONA took the "Joan Gamper Trophy" ( represents
Barça´s introduction to its members) defeating invited team INTER
MILAN with a 5-0 scoreline.

It was a whitewash for Inter, as a surprisingly improved Barça

got its play together & was up 3-0 after 45mins, with goals from
RONALDIHNO, GIOVANNI ( pictured) & TOURE - be sure to see

Toure´s goal , as it was a rocket from outside the box.

In the 2º half, Barça gave a run to the bench players; including Messi,
Eto´o, Sylvinho, Milito & Motta ( replaced Eto´o after injury). The party

continued with great play from Messi, Iniesta & Henry who were supported

well by an enthusiastic Deco.
It was´nt long before Barça scored its 4th via INIESTA & the 5th goal
came via a MOTTA header. Conviencing win.

If Barça play the league like they did tonight, they may well be the team
to beat. However, there was not opposition tonight at all.

ELFSBORG 1 - VALENCIA CF 2. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIER

VALENCIA CF assured its starting place & the next draw of this years
official Champions League competition, after comfortably winning
1-2 away ELFSBORG, & win 1-5 on aggregate.















Ex - Real Madrid player HELGUERA opened the scoring for Valencia
in the 4th min with a header from, however Elfsborg pulled one back in
the 31st with ANDERSONSSON.
The 2 half was full of chances & finally DAVID VILLA scored the
winner for Valencia in the 90th min.

Valencia now joins Real Madrid & Fc Barcelona in the European
Cup draw, hopefully with Sevilla Fc who must play its suspended

ATLETICO DE MADRID & RIQUELME COME TO AN AGREEMENT.

Sp.radio "Cadena Ser" has announced the news, that ATLETICO
DE MADRID & VILLAREAL Argentine International midfielder
JUAN ROMAN RIQUELME have come - in principal - to an
agreement concerning his transfer.

Atletico & Villareal had already OKed the transfer, what was missing
was Riquelme´s Ok. It seems both parties have an agreement with a
2 year contract & an option of an extra year.
All the details of transfer price & salary are not clear still, but what looks
almost certain is that Riquelme will be an Atletico de Madrid player.

This causes a problem, with Riquelme the club, it has 5 extra-Euro
community players, one more than the allowed by UEFA. Atletico
will have to get rid of a player & that looks like being Fabiano Eller.

MOTTA/MARQUEZ NEWS:
Atletico & Fc Barcelona have an agreement over Thiago Motta. The
problem is the player who cannot decide if he wishes to stay in Spain
or Italy, were he also has an offer from AC ROMA. Stay tuned!

Lastly, Fc Barcelona will not let go their Mexican defender Marquez.

SPAIN 3 - NTH.KOREA 0. U/17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

SPAIN moves into the Q/Finals of the U/17 World Championships
with its 3-0 victory over NORTH KOREA.
Spain´s next hurdle will be France who they defeated last time 2-0
in the Euro Championships where Spain went on to win the title.

It was a very physical & tough match from the Nth Koreans who
were out played by Spain & BOJAN ( pictured above) who scored
2 goals along with IAGO.
This ( along with the Absolute ) is the only title missing in the Spanish
Cups mantle; they are moving fine but cannot underestimate the talented
French next up.

SEVILLE FC NEWS. ANTONIO PUERTA DIES AT 22 YEARS OF AGE

SFS IS SHOCKED & SADDENED BY THE ANNOUNCEMENT .

Sevilla Fc, the city of Sevilla, Spanish Football & the whole nation of

Spain are mourning the loss & death of young 22 year old SEVILLA FC
player ANTONIO PUERTA.

The player sufferred a massive stroke that ended the life of the player
at the"Hospital Virgen de Rocio". We remember readers that Puerta
was rushed from the "Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium" last Sunday after

collapsing on the field in the game with Getafe.

The player suffered multiple heart attacks that damaged organs, & today
at around 15.30 - 16.00 his body could not take it any longer.

Here is how Antonio Puerta collapsed last Sunday:



The player suffered a hereditory heart problem that made pumping blood
to his body difficult, but no one imagined up to what point.

Antonio leaves behind a family, wife & was to be dad in a couple of months.
From SFS we wish & feel the deepest condolences for his family & Sevilla
FC.

Here is the VIDEO of his finest moment. The last minute goal that put
SEVILLA FC into their 1º final of the UEFA Cup , the semi -final
with German side SCHALKE 04. We will remember the player like this,
as a talented football professional that left his life on the field.

ATLETICO DE MADRID is in conversing with FC BARCELONA
to see the possibility of the transfer of Mexican International &
defender RAFAEL MARQUEZ.
The Real Madrid game saw an uneasy Pablo in defence & Atletico see
Marquez as a more solid defender with the ability to play the ball out of

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA - ROUND 1/ 2007 RESULTS

Today the rest of the remaining Round 1 games of "La Liga" have
finished being played & have given some surprising results, although its
obvious that the mayority of teams still need matches to get into form.

RACING OF SANTANDER received at home FC BARCELONA with
much expectation to see all the new Barça stars. The fielding of the "4
Fantasticos" ( Henry, Messi, Eto´o & Ronaldinho) did not happen from the
start, as Henry stayed on the bench.
The game saw a perfectly disciplined Santander in defence, with a Barça side
lacking ideas in attack. Barça insisted in playing long balls & going through the
center to only find the Santader wall.
Thiery Henry came on for Messi in the 2 half to see if he could lift the side, but
with missed chances & little control of the ball by his team, the objective was
difficult : Final score a 0-0 draw

RECREATIVO DE HUELVA & REAL BETIS played a solid & toughly

fought out game which ended in a 1- 1 draw, thanks to PONGOLLE
for Recreativo & NANO for Real Betis.
























MALLORCA could not have started better after steamrolling over
LEVANTE with a 3-0 victory. The man of the match was Argentine
IBAGAZA who scored 2 goals for Mallorca. His teammate & new
signning from Getafe, GUIZA, got on the scoring sheet with a goal

as well.

Newly promoted ALMERIA gave a lesson of Football to a lost
DEPORTIVO DE A CORUÑA with a fabulous 0 - 3victory
away. It was champagne football with NEGRADO, SORIANO
& CRUSAT all scoring for Almeria.

AT.BILBAO & OSASUNA meet & gave a traditionally hard fought
Northern Spain clash that ended in a 0-0 draw.

VALENCIA CF played VILLAREAL at home & it all turned
sour for Valencia with 2 RED CARDS - Villa & Joaquin. Villareal
won 0-3 thanks to goals from TOMASSEN ( pictured above),
ROSSI from the penalty spot & CAZORLA. Villareal dominated
totally the game with Valencia down to 9 men on the field.

In the last clash ESPANYOL played newly promoted VALLADOLID

who went onto victory 0-1 thanks to a goal by LLORENTE.

Spanish F1 World Champ FERNANDO ALONSO finished in 3º place
& cut L. Hamiltons World Championship lead by 2 points, the
latter finished 5th after suffering a tyre blowout with 16 laps to go.

The winner of the TURKISH GP was F. MASSA with a superb race,
followed by teammate Raikkonen were the Ferrari´s showed that
they have the edge at this moment over all the other rivals

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA - ROUND 1/2007 SATURDAY RESULTS

The Spanish 1º Division for 2007/08 got underway with the REAL
MADRID - ATLETICO DE MADRID derby, were Real received the
"La Liga" Champions Cup for winning last season.

Things started brilliantly for Atletico with a goal in the 1º min with a
header by Argentine AGUERO. Real Madrid looked nervious,but slowly
began to get its play together & found its touch.

So much so, that RAUL scored an excellent header in the 14min
to equalize for his team. From here onwards it was a see-saw game
with Real gaining in strenght as time went by.















The 2º half was virtually all Real Madrid who were playing well
& surprising many with the change of image & play. Everything
came into place when in the 79th min new "star" signning
SNEIJDER scored to put Real ahead

Atletico could have equalized in the final moment, but the header
by DIEGO FORLAN was disallowed for offside. Final score 2-1 to
Real Madrid. Good game from Real, who deserved to win, with a
special mention to Sergio Ramos who was outstanding.
Great start!

The SEVILLA FC clash with GETAFE was affected by the double RED
cards given to Getafe players Sousa & Cortes. Although Getafe scored
first with a brilliant free kick by PABLO, it was a question of time that
Sevilla would score. That happen with JESUS NAVAS opening up his
teams 1º of 4 goals.

















The other scorers came in the 2º half with goals from LUIS
FABIANO, KANOUTE & KERZHAKOV. Final score 4-1.

The fright of the night was the collapse of Sevilla player PUERTA

who was taken to hospital with a heart-respiratory attack. The
player is in intensive care & stable.

MURCIA is a new comer this season to the 1º division & played a
strong REAL ZARAGOZA at home. Murcia started perfectly scoring

first thanks to ex-Real Madrid defender MEJIA ( pictured above)

Zaragoza recovered from the early shock & in the 30m Brazilian
RICARDO OLIVEIRA scored to equalize. But Murcia were inspired
tonight & new signning, ex - Celta player, BAIANO scored the winning
goal to take his team onward to a "surprising" victory. Final score
2-1

Rest of the Round 1 games will be played tomorrow.

The current European Champions SPAIN have finished on top of
their Group C after drawing 1-1 with ARGENTINA at the U/17
World Championships being held at South Korea.




















Argentina scored first via Benitez in the 32nd min & Spain came back to
draw with a header from Aquino in the 68th min. Spain now awaits to know
its next rival ( the best 3rd placed team) for its next game.

comfortably & wake up with 3 transfer moves, & not just any moves.

Started yesterday with the surprise announcement that REAL MADRID
has signned Man Utd. player Gabriel Heinze, & this morning we get
confirmation that the following deal have been shut:



















(1) ARJEN ROBBEN: REAL MADRID & CHELSEA FC have shut the
transfer of the 23 year old Dutch International winger for a price of 36
M€. The "saga" finally ends & Real get their man who will no doubt be
presented within the next hours.

(2) JULIANO BELLETI: CHELSEA FC have invested some of its
new cash & signned the FC BARCELONA Brazilian right-defender
for an economical 5, 5 M€. This obviously shuts the door to Sevilla FC
player Dani Alves.

(3) CICINHO: with some many new players, REAL MADRID began
its "spring cleaning" & transferred the Brazilian right-back to AC
ROMA for between 8-9M€. The player will earn 2M€/year in his
new 5 year contract with the Italian team.

With all storys there is a REAL loser in all this: DANIEL ALVES.
Stay tuned on the Alves front, it smells of a last minute transfer BOMB.

GREECE 2 - SPAIN 3 INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY GAME

The Greeks finally got their act together & managed to "fix" the
turf so the International game between GREECE & SPAIN could
finally go ahead.

The result was a Spanish victory 2-3 over a good Greek side that
relaxed a lot in the 2ºhalf with 5 substitutes, which allowed the
Spaniards to become stronger, & thanks to the inclusion of Iniesta &
Cesc at the end.

And this is SFS point, the Greek team ran a riot in the 1º half that
could have had a scoreline 3-0, if it was´nt for their missed chances.
The Spanish team, in SFS opinion, played a bad game that worries &

does´nt give any confidence.

GEKAS opened the scoring for Greece in the 18min, with the Greeks
in full flight. MARCHENA managed to equalize in the 37min with a
header, but KATSOURANIS got Greece back in front in the 42min.

But it was VALENCIA CF winger SILVA that saved the day with great
plays & 2 goals in the 65min & in the very last moment - 92m - to
give Spain a very tough & not conviencing victory.

Spain will now prepare for their EURO 2008 Group clashes against Iceland
& Latvia in a couple of weeks time, were the only valid result for them is a
victory. Lets hope they can improve & play better than tonight
