REAL MADRID NEWS. EMERSON, MARCELO & BAPTISTA

Bernd Schuster, new coach for REAL MADRID, is already busy
giving instructions on which players he wishes to have at his orders.

According to "As", the coach has said to Real that he counts on
Brazilian defensive midfielder EMERSON for the 1ยบ team, & that
they should not consider transferring him.

Schuster considers Emerson as a viable piece to play with DIARRA.
The coach wishes to have various options up his sleeve & to use them
according to the games needs. A "double pivot" option : Diarra - Emerson,
is still of value & should not be dismissed. Plus Emerson is a good replacement
in case of injuries or red card accumulations by his teammates

Schuster has also instructed the club & his young Brazilian right -back
MARCELO that he counts on him. Schuster wishes to encourage
competition in the left-back post between Torres, Drenthe ( if signned)
& Marcelo.

Lastly, Sp. daily "Marca" inform that
Vice-President , Adan Polat, of Turkish club
GALATASARAY was in Madrid yesterday
with REAL MADRID officials to negotiate a
possible JULIO BAPTISTA transfer deal.

The player is currently with his national side
& will play the final of the South America Cup
against Argentina today. All parties must
await his views & opinions before taking this any
further. Stay tuned!

Ironic isn't it that Shuster is considering Emerson and Diarra together when arguably this is one of the main reasons that Capello was disliked by the fans and fired?

Personally, toward the end of the season I didn't think we were very defense orientated anyway, even with both of them on the pitch. I think they make a good combination at times although neither of them are genius at the creative passing side of things.

I know Emerson is not liked at Real (he does look clumsy sometimes) - I wonder if some of the hardcore Real fans will be upset by this policy.

I, for one, am a bit upset. I don't care for Emerson nor the double pivot. And yes, it's ironic that Shuster aims to preserve Capello's tactical defensive midfeild, seeing how it was one of the elements that led to him being ousted. The system was, at times, very effective - but it was not stylish and often boring. I'm already liking Shuster less and less.
