I watched the Real Zaragoza v Real Madrid match and was on hand to hear when the Espanyol v Barcelona goals went in. Coincidentally Barca went behind a little before Pablo Aimar was impeded by Ivan Hulguera so the atmosphere was intriguing. Then I heard that Barca had equalised in controversial circumstances through Messi, and saw once again an Argentinian score with his hand, reminiscent to another Argentinian some 21 years ago in the World Cup.

Both matches ending in a 2-2 draw leaves the Primera Liga title to the last game, yet the focus is on why Messi felt compelled to commit the 'Hand of God' goal with such talent? It was deplorable and for that I hope Barca do not win the title. It took away from Espanyol's efforts to quell the reigning champions and for Tamudo to score two good goals showed how efficient the visitors were in opposing Barca. Espanyol deserved the win.

Hi Redsman,
Definately going down to the wire, although Real Madrid are in the box seat.
Of course they could loss against Mallorca & here is the uncertainty & the excitemente.
Agree with you totally about Messi, however the youngster does feel the pressure as the rest of the team & this will cause the mind to attempt extraordinary things.
Great game from Espanyol, the merit should not be taken away.

Nice to see you back & as always, concise, clear & effective analysis
Cheers

You couldn't have scripted a more exciting sequence of events.

I owe Espagnol my support forever -hail tamudo, hail de la pena!

I simply don't have the words to try to explain how exciting it was on Saturday night - I haven't been through that range of emotions in a football game ever.

If Real lose next week after what they have put me through in the last 3 or 4 games I will probably cry.

Awesome - I love Spanish football.

BTW: i was also pretty dissappointed with Messi.

The fact is that goal would not have gone in without the aid of his hand - so perhaps one can argue that he was right to do it.

Being a Real fan I should hate him for it but I can't bring myself to.
