situation.There is daily news from various European Sports
papers placing Torres in varios clubs everyday. This is an ongoing
saga, they are all rumours & have been for years. But I will
give the readers the latest resumed "status" on the case below.
This is what I know:
1) Torres has a contract with ATLETICO DE MADRID
2) MANCHESTER UTD is willing to pay around 35,000,000€
& may bring into the operation Van Nisterooy.
3) AC MILAN see him as the possible substitute for Schevchenko,
but have said that they HAVE NOT made any offers or approached
the player - normal as to do so would make it illegal in the eyes of
FIFA.
4) There exists a rumour - more in the UK - that LIVERPOOL are
betting hard to bring "The Kid" to Anfield. This is not as strong as
the first two strories
5) BARCELONA FC has had an interest for years - never
underestimate them - but has now Eto´o & this may not interest
Torres nor Barça.
6) REAL MADRID will always have a shadow over everything, but
until after the elections they are hand-tied.
7) ARSENAL & CHELSEA sound, but not strong enough &
with little hard substance
My humble opinion - It appears that Manchester Utd are
serious, that Milan is as well, but more cautious. Liverpool
maybe trying, but its more an overseas rumour than a local story.
Atletico President has said they will not sell, Atletico coach
counts on him to lead the side & Atletico is building a strong
team around him to lift the side & Torres to the top of
European Football.
Thus at this point, I see him staying at Atletico for the next season,
with a stronger contract due to his World Cup performance.
¿Can this change? Of course it can. But Torres will have to go public
& say that he wishes to leave the club & that will be difficult
as he was "raised" & educated at Atletico, & with 21 years of age
is the Captain & the social reference of the club.

He will stay at Athletico for one more season. If they do not get into the Champions League next season he will leave for Arsenal, which is the smartest option because the style which Arsenal play will suit his game and he will link up with his mates, Cesc & Reyes. What reason would he have to go to ManUre they are the fourth team in England behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. And they wouldn't be there if it weren't for Rooney and C. Ronaldo. And even one of them wants to leave!!
I agree that Arsenal would probably suit his game more, however what gives you the idea that Man Utd are the fourth best team in the Premiership? considering they finished second last season! it could be argued that Liverpool are as strong as MAn Utd as they finished only 1 point behind them, but Arsenal were 16 points adrift and barely made fourth spot! Yes, they made the Champions League Final but Porto and Monaco did the same 2 years ago, which pretty much proves there is a lot of luck involved. Furthermore, how hypocritical can you be saying United are based around 2 players, when Arsenal wouldn't be half the team without Henry?

If torres was to leave athletico in the summer for the preimiership, I would see him best placed under the influence of Rafa Benitez at Liverpool. Under new ownership, Liverpool will now be able to compete with the likes of chelsea and man united, and are in desperate need of 25+ striker. There is a strong Spanish influence in the liverpool squad, with the likes of xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina, and Luis Garcia all who have proved to be key members in Liverpools success in europe but a striker like Torres is critical for Liverpools challenge for the league.

torres must sign to man.utd. to prove himself playing with rooney ronaldo etc. but he can sign also to liverpool because of his love to this team and because of benitez alonso garcia etc. but not to chelsea
I think fernando is a great striker and he can be one of the most important strikers of europe if he signs to man.utd or to barça I hope he proves himself more at a big club

Atletico Madrid missed out on a UEFA cup place for 2008/9 by a mere point, finishing a creditable 7th. That Torres captains a highly promising young side (capable of a top four placing next season) is certainly not in dispute so why agree to a transfer when he's got everything to play for at his beloved Atletico?
but now he is player of Liverpool, in Atleti he was captan, and in liver he will be nothing!!!! I very love he! and i hope in Livepool he'll be feel better. but i don't think that is better for his life. he should go in anothers spanish club ( for example : Real Madrid). but now 6 years he wil stay in liverpool. and i'm so sad!
