WORLD CUP:SPAIN 3 - TUNISIA 1. THE TEST OF FIRE!

The SPANISH WORLD CUP TEAM has passed its 1º test of
fire by winning 3-1 against a tough TUNISIAN goalkeeper &
team.
We began singing "your my Wonderwall" against the Ukraine
but forgot that Noel Gallagher also wrote, "& all the roads that
lead you their are winding". Tunisia was tonight a dangerous
curve along the Spanish path, that they overcome with pure
football.

Tunisia scored 1º & early in the 7´min thanks to MNARI.
This made Spain nervous & they momentary forgot to play
their natural passing football with long passes. They attacked
but were constantly frustrated by a solid keeper & defense.

In the 2º half coach Luis Aragones made some important changes
that put back the "football" into Spain´s game. This man above -
CESC was the revolution. He came on for Senna, along with RAUL

for Garcia & JOAQUIN for Villa.

Then in the 70´min the Captian Raul, popped in Spain´s
1º goal with a clever as ever reaction from a keeper´s
fumble. Typical Raul first to react, lifting the side with his
tenacious & spirited play.

Spain were on a roll with total control of the midfield,
when Cesc made a fabulous pass to FERNANDO TORRES

who scored the 2º goal. It was the 76´min & Spain regained
its nerves & coolness that allowed for their flowing play.

Then in the 89´min , Fernando Torres was fouled in the area
& was awarded a penalty, which he took & scored passing under
the Tunisian keeper - 3-1.
This was Torres 2º goal & his 3º for the tournament.

Special mention again to XAVI HERNANDEZ & XAVI ALONSO
who
controlled the midfield, created plays & set the pace.

It was clear that Tunisia was better than the Ukraine & played a very
tough match, which made it difficult for Spain. But this was precisely
the sort of match ( & reality check) that was needed to build confidence
& show that Spain can come from behind if it believes in its football.

Next match against SAUDI ARABIA where the coach will field a
substitute side to give everyone a run in the tournament & rest key
players.

Spain now qualifies with 2 wins - 6 pts - for the next rounds where it
awaits either Switzerland, Sth Korea or France , a group very
much up in the air.
