SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2008 / 2009 - ROUND 25 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

SEVILLA FC keeps consolidating it´s third table place after they defeated
ATHLETIC DE BILBAO 1-2, in a "dress rehearsal" of next Wednesdays
Spanish Cup clash.

KANOUTE (above) scored twice & sealed his teams victory with his
goals in the 38th & 57th min. For Bilbao GABILONDO put Athletic ahead
in the 25th but were then slowly grind down by Sevilla who dominanted
in the second half.

With FC Barcelona still to play Atletico de Madrid away tomorrow,
REAL MADRID is now 4 points behind after defeating
ESPANYOL
0 - 2
tonight with two poetic goals.

LASSANA DIARRA (above) was a star tonight with his solid midfield
performance along with Pepe, Guti & Raul who was tiredless all game.

In fact the 1ºst half was a stalemate & Real Madrid needed someone
to open up the tight Espanyol defense. GUTI came on in the 2ºhalf &
soon scored a fantastic free kick in the 67th min that was unstoppable
(see above). This shocked Espanyol as Real attacked some more until
RAUL connected from outside the box in the 72th min to place it brilliantly
away from the Espanyol goalie. Two lethal goals in 5 mins that turned
completely
around the whole match from two specific actions.

It´s the 10th straight win for Real Madrid in "La Liga" that now puts more
pressure on Barça
to win tomorrows game against Atletico.

BARCELONA MEDIA CONFIDENT ON RIBERY & BENZEMA FOR BARÇA

Barcelona based Sports daily “Mundo Deportivo” is quite adamant in
its reference to BAYERN MUNICH French International winger
FRANCK RIBERY. According to them FC BARCELONA has tied
an agreement with the player for next season, what is now needed is
that the German Club agree to let him go. In order to loosen the ropes
Barça is willing to fork out 30M€, a figure the beforehand looks low
if you consider that Real Madrid & Chelsea FC may make things not
at all easy, SFS reminds readers that Chelsea made a 40M€ that was
rejected. However, Barça wishes to add value by including their player
Hleb in the operation, something that the actual player will still have his
say.

The key maybe the comments made by Jean-Pierre Bernès, one of Ribery´s
representatives: “…if Franck would to leave Bayern, it would be for
a Club like Barcelona”. Smart words - “for a Club like, not the Club” -
from this professional leaving open a margin of manoeuvre independent
of the certainty expressed by the Barcelona based paper. No doubt
Ribery will be much talked about this upcoming summer, stay tuned!

Continuing in its optimism, “Mundo Deportivo” go on to talk about
OLYMPIQUE DE LYON star forward KARIM BENZEMA. According
to the paper, Lyon & BARÇA Presidents along with their teams took the
Champions League clash occasion to have lunch & talk about the
possible transfer of the French International. Barça knows that both
REAL MADRID & Manchester United are also tempting Benzema &
wish to stay in “pole” position by advancing to tie up things as quickly
as possible. They claim at Barça that they are close, stay tuned!

¿Are both compatible? ¿Do you believe in the news from Barcelona?

THIERRY HENRY - STAY OUT OF SPANISH POLITICS, PLEASE!!!!

Intellectuales say intelligent things, but Football players say...
"Cataluña no es España y eso hay que sentirlo" - translated -
"Catalonia is not Spain, you have to feel it". Ok that is fine, but

two years living in "Catalonia" & one thinks (feels) what people
in 500 years has´nt yet got it
clear.

Ok, I now go on & say this about the south of France... "this belongs
to the
Basque Country & not the French state, you have to feel it" ...Ok
for you Thierry ?

Thierry score goals & play your Football well. Stay out of f*cking
politics & don´t come across as an idiot.
OK!

ATLETICO DE MADRID END OF SEASON

ATLETICO DE MADRID bad choice Coach Abel Resino, bad mistake
President Cerezo & Club owner Gil, Abel Resino...hopeless!!!

A SFS opinion, a typical At. Madrid decision.

UEFA CUP 2008 / 2009: DEPORTIVO & VALENCIA CF SAY GOODBYE

It was always going to be difficult for DEPORTIVO after going down
1-3 in the 1ºleg to AALBORG, but there always exist the miracles. When
SERGIO scored first for Deportivo it looked like that the impossible could
happen, however it went wrong, terribly wrong.

Aalborg scored three goals in 4 mts & Deportivo collapsed, perhaps
to the nerves which lead to lethal mistakes. SHELTON equalized
in the 41st min, followed by JOHANSSON in the 44th min & then
ENEVOLDSEN in the 45th min.

A fatal blow that took all hope out of Deportivo, to see them gain some
pride by keeping the second half goal less.

Result: 1-3 to Aalborg´s favour with Deportivo A Coruña knocked out.

VALENCIA CF
had it easier as their 1-1 draw away to
DINAMO OF
KIEV
keep the tie open. Well, the reality was much more serious &
difficult than imagined as Dinamo knocks out Valencia after a 2-2 draw
final result.

The above pictured player settled things for Dinamo, Croatian KRAVET
scored
two goals; one in the 34th min & the final "killer" goal in 73rd min.

Valencia played well & had moments of dominance during which
in the 45th min MARCHENA (above) equalized with a header. That
dominance continued & DEL HORNO put Valencia ahead in the
54th min to give them the tie at that point of the clash.

But a bad mistake from Albiol gave the ball to Dinamo who counter
& scored the equalizer . The error cost Valencia the game, a blow from
which they
could not recover.

No more Spanish teams in the UEFA Cup; Game Over. The decline of
Spanish Football in Europe?

THE PROBLEM WITH SERGIO "KUN" AGUERO IS DIEGO

New Atlético de Madrid Coach Abel Resino surprisingly decided to substitute
Argentine star forward SERGIO AGUERO in the 2ºhalf of their
Champions League clash against OPORTO last Tuesday. Many were
baffled & Aguero was even “shocked” as his face told the story as he left
the ground. Latter Coach Abel commented that Aguero was not at his best
& decided to simply give another player the chance. Fair enough you may say,

not so simple if your Atlético´s star player & commercially profitable
marketing asset, tell that to the sponsors.

Sergio Aguero has been pointed out as one of the suspected causes of
the substitution of ex – Coach Aguirre & Tuesday’s “incident”, added with
continual stays on the bench, has opened up speculation locally that there
maybe a new split at Camp Atlético between Aguero & his new Coach.
If you add to this that the grandfather of his new son Benjamin is none
other than Diego Armando Maradona, who has suggested he leave
Atlético for a bigger club & concretely Inter Milan, you may have reasons
to worry if you were an Atlético directive or fan.

It has not taken long. From Italy the newspaper “La Gazzetta dello
Sport” publish that INTER MILAN wants to have the services of Sergio
Aguero for next season & are willing to pay 55M€, which is his current
release clause in Spain. Various things here, it is being talked in “bars
& the workplace” that Atlético may well sell Aguero for this succulent
price. The player is not consistent & is turning out to be a bit of a rebel.
Other sources, including SFS believes that Aguero has one main problem,
that is, Diego Armando Maradona

ATLETICO DE MADRID MOURNS THE LOSS OF YOUNG 9 YEAR OLD DANIEL ALCALÁ RIVAS

Spanish Football & Sports will like to dedicate a post to a youngster, a
Spanish Sportsperson, a Footballer (Soccer) player & an Atlético de
Madrid community member & fan.

DANIEL ALCALÁ RIVAS of 9 years of age & junior cadet of the
“Escuela de Fútbol del Club Atlético de Madrid” – ATM junior Fútbol
Teams – has died 9 days after the injuries received while participating
with his team in a game.

It was a freak & still unexplained accident while Atlético de Madrid
visited away to play against Las Rozas. The bench – area for coaches
& substitutes – structure collapsed with young Daniel taking the full
force of the collapse on his young head. This caused severe head
injuries that left Daniel unconscious, being rushed to hospital were
today he passed away.

The Club & family are in shock, as are followers & most people who
hear the news. The Club has put an official post on its web that you
can go, via the link on SFS on the right hand side.

From here my small tribute, to the Spanish Sportsperson & Footballer
who has retired. I did not know him or his family at all , but being a
Sportsmen & Atletico de Madrid member, SFS wishes to share in the
condolances

RIP Atletico!

LIVERPOOL FC MORE "SPANISH" THAN REAL MADRID

Curious observation yesterday in the Real Madrid - Liverpool FC
1ºleg Champions League clash at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
The English team had more Spanish born players & than Real Madrid

on the field.

Real Madrid only had Casillas, Sergio Ramos & Raul ( Guti come on in
the second half).
Liverpool FC had Reina, Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso, Riera & Fernando
Torres.

Curious indeed!

Here is the VIDEO of yesterdays game highlight with the winning goal:

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2008 / 2009: REAL MADRID LOSES & VILLAREAL DRAWS

It was the big clash of the Football "Titans" & like giants they
basically cancelled each other, basically because LIVERPOOL FC
managed a valuable away goal towards the end to give them a 0-1
away victory to REAL MADRID.

It was smart Football from Liverpool Coach Benitez who knows well
the opposition team & Spanish Football. Rafa Benitez laid out a position
strategy that bogged down Real Madrid & did´nt allow them to play,
add a couple of Reina goalkeeping saves & the result was as designed.
Liverpool came over happy for a nil all draw, but if a goal was to happen
well good & thats how it happened.

The 1ºst half was an even afair with Steven Gerrard on the bench.
Fernando Torres got a knock & was unsettled until he was substituted

at half time by Babel. Few chances to both but overall even share.

HIGUAÍN was active all night with ROBBEN who had his chances,
but Liverpool created a spiderweb that blocked out & frustrated
Real Madrid. The 2ºhalf saw Real lift up in gears only to smash into

the Liverpool strategic set up, the Spaniards just could break through
& brought on Guti to see if he could create some magic.

It looked like it was going to end in a nil all draw when in the 83rd
min BENAYOUN headed the winner after a Real Madrid defensive
lapse, their minds were so upfront the the counter-attack was lethal.

Great win for Liverpool & excellent strategy by Benitez who outwitted
Real Coach Juande. Now Real must win by 2 goals at Liverpool, not
impossible
but a difficult task in foreign soil.

VILLAREAL managed a 1-1 draw against Greek side PANATHINAIKOS.
The Spanish team had chances to wrap the tie, especially in the 1ºst half,

but did´nt take advantage.

The Greeks got ahead first in the 59th min via KARAGOUNIS, but
ROSSI
managed to convert a penalty in the 67th min to equalized. Villareal tried

to win the game but Panathinaikos held them out, they were thinking in the
return match at Greece.

It will be a tough affair for Villareal in Greece, as the fanatical Greek
crowd atmosphere
will be a 12th man, however not an impossible task.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - 2009 1º LEG - ATLETICO DE MADRID & FC BARCELONA

Thank you DIEGO FORLAN. ATLETICO DE MADRID is still
in there but still has its return leg game. The game against OPORTO
ended in a 2-2 draw.

Average game for Atletico with bad defending, as Oporto scored two
valuable
goals via LOPEZ in the 22 & 72 nd min. Thank "Christ" for
MAXI in
the 2ºnd min & FORLAN in 46th min. Decider in Oporto!

See VIDEO of highlights:

The "Best Team in Europe" FC BARCELONA got away with a
valuable draw 1-1 from OLYMPIQUE DE LYON. The goals
came from JUNINHO in the 6th min & later HENRY in the 68th min.

Good result for the return match at "Camp Nou"

EL MUNDANO DEPORTIVO: REAL MADRID CHANTS “YES, WE CAN”

El Mundano Deportivo: the bi-monthly collaboration from Adrian Vogel
for SFS. Adrian this time comments on whether Real Madrid can comeback
& take the Liga title in the final sprint from FC Barcelona. Real has
already cut from 12 points to 7 points the gap & “La Liga” has gained
more interest & passion. Leave you with the thoughts of

Real Madrid chants “Yes we can” (by Adrian Vogel)

A couple of weeks ago Barcelona looked like the sure Liga winner. Their
brilliant team play (and key referee decisions in their favour) made them
look unbeatable. Their supporters believed they could win everything: the
Spanish Cup & Liga plus the Champions League. But the panorama has
changed all of a sudden. In just two games their 12 point lead is reduced
to seven. While Real –without Robben, Guti, Snjeider, Diarrà or Van
Nistelrooy- started to play as one, Barça lost their first home game this
season in the local derby vs. Espanyol. Meanwhile Real Madrid scored six
goals in a wonderful first half (6-1 against Betis). Second half saw the
return of Guti (after a two month absence), Robben and Snjeider (both
missed the last two games due to injuries produced playing for Holland).

Tomás Guasch is the Barcelona editor in chief for AS, one of the two
sports daily papers published in Madrid. He also collaborates with SER
(network radio) and TV channels Canal + and TV Cuatro. All belong to
PRISA, the top Spanish media organization. He defines the state of anxiety
and fear that surrounds Barcelona F.C. -when confronted with Real
- with a machine he calls “el cagometro” (“the shitmeter”). His theory is
that the consumption of diapers skyrockets due to the intestine looseness
provoked by having Real Madrid in sight.

Humour aside, the facts are that history tends to repeat itself & this
comeback happened two seasons ago. The statistics are starting to flow.
One that caught my attention was that Real always conquers the Liga
trophy when they win nine games in a row; it was achieved this past
Sunday.

My feeling: “Yes, We Can”. But a 7 point lead with 14 games left is
more than enough for the Catalonian team. I know that they have to
visit the Bernabéu, but their schedule (fixture) is better. Real Madrid for
example has to play in Sevilla, an impossible team for us. Maybe our
current coach, Juande Ramos, in his first game against his former Club
can reverse the tendency. In fact he signed after our defeat 3-4 against
them in the first leg of the tournament.

This week could be vital since we have Champions League games, &
Liverpool feels like a tougher rival than Olympique of Lyon. The morale
is an important issue right now (therefore the relevance of these
challenges), plus we have to bear in mind that this coming weekend we
have the Atlético de Madrid-Barcelona and Espanyol-Real Madrid games

I’d like to finish with the words of Xavi, one of their great Captain´s
and elected Best Player at Eurocup 2008, before their 1-2 loss to Espanyol:
“…with a 10 point deficit they believe they can get hold of us while in our
case, we would be thinking in another tournament”.

That’s why the chant: Yes We Can”.

FC BARCELONA THE 2º MOST POWERFUL MEDIA CLUB IN THE WORLD

An economic study elaborated by the Spanish University of Navarra,
concretely by its “Economic, Sports & Intangibles” Department (ESIorg)
has released its list of the Top World Football Clubs that are the most
“famous” in the global Football (Soccer) market. That is, how much
publicity, marketing & communication power each Club has to congregate
most of the World´s media attention.

The Club with the most media exposure & media pulling power in the
World is Manchester United followed by FC Barcelona; Real Madrid is 6th,
Atlético de Madrid 14th & Valencia 19th. See the below list:

RANKING OF CLUBS:
1. Manchester United 89.6 pts.
2. FC Barcelona 72.8.
3. Chelsea 67.2.
4. Liverpool 60.2.
5. AC Milan 59.7.
6. Real Madrid 59.0.
7. Arsenal 46.8.
8. Inter de Milán 40.7.
9. Bayern de Múnich 40.6.
10. Juventus. 33.8.
.../...
14. Atlético de Madrid 25.5.
19. Valencia 20.1.

One of the prime factors which determine the media pulling power & the
exposure of a team is it´s star players. Cristiano Ronaldo is Nº1 in the
player ranking which helps Manchester United gain huge global exposure.
Leonel Messi is 2nd & he gives FC Barcelona huge media & marketing
power. The 3rd & 4th placed players are Liverpool FC owned & are Steven
Gerrard & Spaniard Fernando Torres.

LASSANA DIARRA RETURNS EQUILIBRIUM TO REAL MADRID

When REAL MADRID lost their midfielder Mahamadou Diarra for the
whole season due to a serious knee injury, the alarm bells rang with the
sound of danger. The following results were highlighting disequilibrium in
the playing system with “holes” in the midfield that was putting defender
under extreme pressure & forcing them to be out of position. Goals were
being scored as if the opposition have opened the doors to the flood gates.
Defenders like Sergio Ramos were forced to stay back & Real lost attack
on the right side, Cannavaro & Pepe were seen out of position as they
had to defend in the centre & the loss of ball was common & lethal. This
lead to a string of losses that was only stopped by the Xmas break to allow
the Club to repair the damage, regroup & find a suitable substitute in the
Winter market.

The candidate was a young 22 year old Frenchmen from English Club
Portsmouth called LASSANA DIARRA, who some had labelled the new
“Makelele”, a label that can sink any youngster as the level set by the
original is high. The Spanish Club made the decision, took the chance &
invested 20M€ on this relatively unknown player to fill the big shoes of
Mahamadou & to bring back the equilibrium lost to the team: an awesome
task for such a big Club. However, Lassana knew this was a golden
opportunity & took the bull by the horns.

Since his arrival, the Frenchmen has not known a loss with his new Club.
His work is tireless, covering all the holes left by Ramos as he attacks or
covers defender Pepe when he decides to run up forward to try his luck.
The man recovers lost balls, stands firm as a wall when the opposition
attacks to cut then dry & when with the ball on his feet distributes in a
correct & orderly fashion that radiates confidence & security to the whole
team.

Lassana Diarra has become in a space of six weeks fundamental to the Real
Madrid setup, so much so that he has been chosen over Dutch team mate,
forward & new winter signing Huntelaar to take up the only available space
in the team for the Champions League competition. Gradually each week
this young Frenchman is shutting the mouths of those critical at the beginning,
winning over the fans, the Club & the Football experts.

With all the criticism fallen upon the Real Madrid Directives & their player
signing strategy this is a ray of light, this bet has turned out to be a winner.
Now Real Madrid has shortened the gap with its rival FC Barcelona from
12 points to 7 points in the local Championship thanks to their winning string
of victories. Lassana Diarra has something to do in all this, he has brought
back the stability & confidence into the Real Madrid team, that is not easy &
it illustrates that we are witnessing a quality player that will make a mark
on Real Madrid & World Football in the coming years.

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2008/ 09 - ROUND 24 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

This seasons revelation team MALAGA jumped into European
Classification places (Uefa) by winning & in doing so knocking out
of the
Top 6 places Atletico de Madrid. Malaga won away a soft VALLADOLID
1-3
.

ALBERT LUQUE again scored for Malaga early in the 7th min ,
followed by APOÑO via a penalty in the 28th min & later NACHO
in the 87th min. For Valladolid the consolation goal came thanks to

OLDONI in the 82th min.

OSASUNA is fighting for its future in 1º Division & won today 2-0
NUMANCIA to get out of the dangerzone. The goals came in the
2nd min by PLASIL & MASOUD in the 35th min

A draw between RECREATIVO & ALMERIA with the 1-1 scoreline.
CAMUÑAS got Recreativo ahead in the 59th min, but Almeria equalized

via NEGREDO in the 76th min via a penalty.

Another team "fighting for its life" is MALLORCA that with its
3 points today get closer to getting out of the relegation zone. They
defeated RACING in a tough & physical game that saw JURADO
score the only & winning goal for Mallorca from a penalty in the

88th min. Tooth & nail Football played between both, final score
1-0.

Again the Iron law of Football: "miss your chances & you lose, or at
least not win". GETAFE & ATHLETIC DE BILBAO clashed heavily
for a 1-1 final result.

GETAFE got ahead early in the 15th min via a header from SOLDADO,

but inform Bilbao forward FERNANDO LLORENTE again saved his
side to equalize in the 40th min. But the crucial moment was when Getafe
goalie JACOB stopped the penalty shot by IRAOLA to prevent the victory
for Bilbao.

VALENCIA CF
is slowly losing the top places train, as they draw tonight to
drop off Champions League positions onto Uefa places. This is the opposite
to DEPORTIVO who are playing well & close to jumping into the Top 6.

Tonight DAVID VILLA scored first for Valencia in the 24th min with a grand
goal. But Deportivo were not shy & continued with the aim of coming back.
Then a turning point, when in the 76th min David Villa was sent off with a Red
Card & left his team with 10 men. Deportivo exploited this & in the 79th min
ADRIAN LOPEZ equalized with a header, some nerves in Valencia this week.
Final result 1-1

BASKETBALL: TAU VITORIA TAKES THE SPANISH CUP

Fabulous final of the Spanish Basketball SPANISH CUP FINAL played
tonight in Madrid with TAU VITORIA taking its 6th Spanish Cup title.

It was intense, hard fought out, very dramatic & of the highest level, the other

opponent UNICAJA MALAGA managed to equalize in the final 11
seconds of normal time 81-81 to take the game into extra time.

It was furious stuff, but TAU managed to get ahead & keep out Unicaja

to win 100-98. Marcus Haislip of Unicaja was the highest scorer of the
match with 23 points, but the fire power of TAU lead by Teletovic with
his 20 points was much more decisive.

It was anyone games, but TAU did what was needed more than Unicaja.

VIDEOS: REAL MADRID 6 - BETIS 1 & FC BARCELONA 1 - ESPANYOL 2

SFS has found its email awash with requests for the Real Madrid & Real
Betis 6-1 video, well OK your wish is my command. I´ll also put
Fc Barcelona
video of its 1-2 loss to Espanyol, be sure to watch the De La Peña 2º goal!

The girls at the start of this video were already there, but good value added:)

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2008/09 - ROUND 24 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Can Real Madrid grab FC Barcelona after all? Tonight Real Madrid
pulled back 3ºpoints to put itself only 7º behind Barça & they still have
to meet in what will be a crucial game.

Lets get straight into the summary of tonights awesome Round 24 games

of the Spanish League.

REAL MADRID were nearly perfect tonight defeating 6-1 REAL BETIS
& doing the demolition job in the 1ºhalf. It was all Real with HIGUAÍN

kicking things off in the 6th min, followed by two goal from HUNTELAAR
with RAUL shooting in two absolute crackers in the 35th & 45th min to
have SERGIO RAMOS header a set piece from Heinze in the 46th min.

RICARDO OLIVEIRA scored Betis only goal in the 29th min.

Then Coach Ramos of Real Madrid rested Cannavaro, Raul & Higuaín
in the 2ºhalf to give Guti, Sneijder & Robben a run. The job was already
done & the game finished without the espectacular performance of the
1ºst half but competent in all case.

Real go into the mid week Champions League clash against Liverpool with

confidence & great play, plus they put more pressure on FC Barcelona.

It was the big Catalan derby, FC BARCELONA lost tonight to
RCD ESPANYOL 1-2 with 10 men down after Keita was given
a Red Card.

Espanyol & man of the match IVAN DE LA PEÑA
scored his teams
two goals - one a piece of art - in the 50th &
55th min. Barça attempted
the comeback with TOURE scoring in the 62th min, but Espanyol held
out & won after 26 years of
not doing so at Camp Nou.

The pressure is on as Real Madrid won & pulled back 3º points that

leaves the arch rival only 7ºpoints away. Nerves at Barça?

VILLAREAL won 2-1 REAL SPORTING OF GIJON in a game were
they did their job without much excitement & fanfare.

BILIC put Sporting ahead in the 1ºst min but ROSSI equalized
immediately with his goal. Then Villareal took its chance via
CAPDEVILA
with his header in 35th min to take his team ahead.

From here Villareal held out & did what they set out to do; keep in the

run for the top places & create confidence for the mid-week Champions
clash.

Sergio Aguero could not celebrate the birth of his son Benjamin with a
goal tonight, but NAVAS did for SEVILLA FC who defeated ATLETICO
DE MADRID 1-0 in the 41st min in a possible off-side position. The other
news with the serious head injury to Altletico defender Perea
that was
taken to hospital with a head injury.

The game was well fought by both sides & each were very aware of not
taking risks. It looked like it would finish in a nil all draw but a defensive
error & a possible off-side by Navas was allowed & gave Sevilla the
victory.

Bad news all round for Atletico who look certain to lose its Euro position
to either Malaga or Deportivo who play tomorrow. Plus Atletico will
face FC Barcelona next week & Real Madrid the following, losing both
could see this season turn out to be a ruin.

Who remembers Aguirre now?

BRAZIL: 6 SENT OFF IN THE BRASIL - ULBRA GAME (19/2/09): WHAT FOOTBALL IS NOT

This is not Spain or related to Spanish Sports, unfortunately it´s Brazil.
However, this transcends all frontiers & labels, & is worth a post on
any type of Sporting Blog as an example of woeful behaviour.

Situation: Game of « La Rio Grande do Sul » League between the teams
Brasil & Ulbra. Pereira for Ulbra scores his teams 5 goal to take the
score line 2-5 in their favour. The goal scorer Pereira goes over the corner
post in front of the Brasil fans to “stick it up em”, & this provokes the
Brasil players who race over & start punching & kicking everything that
moves…the rest is 6 Red Cards!

This is what Football is not about at all & it is appalling. Kids this is
not Sport.

Can someone tell me why Football players when they fight think they are
Bruce Lee & practice karate?

WILL KARIM BENZEMA END UP AT REAL MADRID?

The tough minded President of Olympique de Lyon Jean Michel Aulas
has commented on French TV program “Le 10 Sport” that he is willing
to hear offers for his star forward KARIM BEZEMA & negotiate with
the interested Clubs. The President let know that effectively REAL
MADRID
was very interested in his services, along with Manchester
United & FC Barcelona. He also added that he received a grand offer
from an English Club in January that wasn’t even studied at all.

He seemed philosophical with comments like…opportunities don’t come
often & negotiating has to take place. With potential buyers one has to
weight the economic benefits.

What message do you sense from all this? Do you think Real Madrid will
be his new destination?

FC BARCELONA: FOUR NAMES BEING RUMOURED TO SUBSTITUTE ETO´O

The speculation & rumour “can of worms” has been opened at FC
BARCELONA
with the Samuel Eto´o comments regarding his future
or no future at Barça, to French magazine “Sportweek” (see post below).
Although the Barça Club Directives will continue contract renewal
negotiations with Eto´o & try to convince him to stay further at Barça,
the Club however is covering its back just in case.

Three are the main names being looked at, with a fourth apparently up
their sleeve. They are DAVID VILLA (Valencia CF), FERNANDO
TORRES
(Liverpool FC), BENZEMA (O.Lyon) & now ADEBAYOR,
although this last name will find it difficult to get to FC Barcelona.

The first name, DAVID VILLA, is the easiest as his team is in financial
troubles & will need to sell. Barcelona already made an attempt to “grab”
the player last month in the “winter market” transfer window, but his Club
said no way Jose. Apparently, the player is willing to make the move
(source “Sport”) & it’s a question of satisfying his current Club & finding
an appropriate exit to satisfy all concerned, especially the Valencia fan base.

Spanish International & Liverpool FC star FERNANDO TORRES was
asked by Barcelona Directives at the FIFA World Player ceremony last
month if he would consider a move to “Camp Barça”. According to
Catalan media, especially “Sport”- this point is important to highlight –,
Torres gave his OK. The Liverpool forward is more to Barcelona’s liking
as he is considered the natural Nº9, but he has a contract with his current
Club until 2013 & one doubts that Coach Benitez or Liverpool will allow
him to go anywhere fast. The player is recently sending messages via the
media that he is happy at Liverpool & with English Football, signs that go
against the Barcelona desire.

French International & Olympique de Lyon forward BENZEMA is another
option. The player has given signs of wishing to make the jump to a BIG
Club & has said he will make a decision after Champions. The player
has a contract with Lyon & to add to that obstacle there is stiff competition
from Real Madrid, Inter, etc.

A fourth option has been raised by local daily “AS” who claim that
Barcelona has offered 22M€ for Arsenal Nº9 ADEBAYOR. This player
was a serious contender to go to “Camp Barça” last summer, but his
Club & Coach Wegner refused. Now it seems Wegner will OK the
transfer as long as his substitute is Huntelaar who is at Real Madrid.
With the eternal “enemy” in this complex play of musical chairs this
option is less likely to come about, too many “players” involved.

So stay tuned, as we are bound to get a lot more juicy news.

SERGIO AGUERO FIRST TIME FATHER - BENJAMIN NAME OF SON

ATLETICO DE MADRID & Argentine 21 year old star SERGIO "KUN"
AGUERO
rushed off to the hospital today to be along side his lady,
Giannine Maradona, as she gave birth today to their first son.

The boy was named BENJAMIN AGUERO MARADONA, & came to
the real world at 19.00 local time weighting 3,660 kilos. The baby is perfect
along with the mother.

This makes Argentine Coach & World Football legend DIEGO
ARMANDO MARADONA a grandfather!

If Benjamin plays Football when his older, & well, will he play for the
Spanish national side or for Argentina?

Congratulations to Aguero from SFS

HUMOUR FROM BARCELONA FOR REAL MADRID

The "pro-Barça" & Barcelona based sporting daily "Sport" has a
sense of humour & if given the opportunity, will stick the finger in the

eye of REAL MADRID. Here is todays cartoon section called
"Futbolitis" were it gives its opinion on the fact the Real Madrid
forward Huntelaar will not play Champions. Here is the translation:

A couple of months ago: "Presentation of the great signing for the
Champions League"

Today (Now): "Presentation of the seat that Huntelaar will sit on
to watch the Champions League"

REAL MADRID FOLLOWING 6 YEAR OLD MADIN MUHAMMAD?

It´s the video doing the Internet round. The so called wonderboy
of 6 years of age, the French - Algerian Madin Muhammad, claimed
as the next Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi...why not, Pele. Why? Because he

moves does like Zidane?

The English paper "The Telegraph" has brought this kid to the limelight
with their story that both REAL MADRID & CHELSEA FC have put
their eye on Madin. Lets see Madin Muhammad in action:

Nice foot work for such a young player, but lets calm down a bit &
allow the youngster to evolve naturally. As AC/DC said..." Its a long
way to the top if you want to RockNRoll"

UEFA CUP 2008/09: VALENCIA CF & DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA

UEFA CUP Football returned tonight with two Spanish Clubs in action.

The 1º leg for VALENCIA CF finished in a 1-1 draw away to
DYNAMO
KIEV
in the snow. A snow "storm" that gave the local side an advantage

as it halted the dominance of the Spanish team.

Valencia scored early thanks to DAVID SILVA in the 8th min & had the

chance to wrap up the tie but they could´nt finish the job. Dynamo, with
the help of the snow, fought back & equalized in the 62th min via
MILEVSKY. Valencia greet Dyanmo in the 2º leg return game with a
good
chance thanks to the away goal.

Here is are details:

Dynamo Kiev 1: Bogush, Nesmachniy, Betao, Mikhalik, El Kaddouri,
Ghioane (Cernat, m.46), Vukojevic, Eremenko, Kravchenko
(Ninkovic, m.62), Kravets (Correa, m.91) & Milevskiy.

Oh dear , DEPORTIVO was well beaten 3-0 by Danish side AALBORG
away in their 1º leg game. The downfall for the Spaniards was during the
second half after surviving the first in a nil all draw.

Then Aalborg player, & man of the match, DUE scored twice in the 54th &
72th min, while JAKABSON put in the nail in the 90th min with the third.
Deportivo nearly got an away goal in the 58th min, but Mista hit the post.

A very difficult return 2ºleg game at Deportivo, were a comeback is against
the odds, but not impossible.
