SPAIN WINS 3 - 1 ARGENTINA FOR ITS 5 TH DAVIS CUP | SPANISH TENNIS

SPANISH TENNIS sits again on top of the World winning its 5th DAVIS CUP thanks to the spectacular victory of RAFAEL NADAL 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 over the Argentina representaive JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO. The match result & Nadal win gave SPAIN a 3 - 1 score that secured the 2011 Davis Cup.

The Davis Cup tie complicate itself for Spain yesterday after leading 2 - 0 when Argentina brushed off the court the Spanish Doubles pair Verdasco - Lopez. A win by Del Potro today for Argentina against Rafael Nadal was the key for their comeback & Del Potro began strong taking the 1ºst set in a storm. However Nadal managed to find his game & won the following two sets to put Spain back on course.

But Del Potro is a very fine & talented player who managed to comeback & put Spain against the ropes almost KO. The Argentine had the 4ºth set in his hand to force a 5th when Nadal managed to get back on his feet & avoid such a possiblity. The fluctuation in the state of form between both & the increasing tiredness were important factors with the mental power finally being the decider. Nadal managed to stay strong mentally & win the decisive 4th set tie break & the Davis cup for Spain. Remarkable to watch & super human effort.


Admirable opponents the Argentines whom have to take back home the fact that its their 4th Davis Cup Final defeat. However, I am sure they will be back as the have an excellent squad. The Final ended 3 -1 in Spain´s favour but it could have gone all wrong for the Spaniards had Nadal not pulled the "rabbit out of the hat" in his match.

SPANISH SPORTS | GREAT DAY IN MOTO GP - INTO THE DAVIS CUP FINAL IN TENNIS

Great afternoon for SPANISH SPORTS & Sportsmen with grand performances in MOTO GP & DAVIS CUP Tennis. In the Motor-bike area, Spanish riders won two out of the three categories, & in Tennis SPAIN qualifies for its 8th Davis Cup Final after winning France in the semi-final held in Cordoba (Spain).

Firstly, MOTO GP action from the ARAGON GP ( SPAIN ) with NICOL TEROL winning the 125 cc category & opening further his lead in the 125 cc World Championship table,  & a fabulous victory by young MARC MARQUEZ in the Moto 2 category cutting to just 6 points the lead by Stefan Bradl in the World Champions table. In the MOTO GP category Australian Casey Stoner was just too good & almost perfect to give him the victory, plus jump closer to this seasons World Title as he opens the points gap further over Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo. The latter came in third in todays race behind another Spaniard Dani Pedrosa who was second.

Spanish Tennis: Rafael Nadal

Spanish Tennis ace RAFAEL NADAL gave SPAIN an unbeatable 3 - 1 result,  beating Frenchmen TSONGA 6 - 0 , 6 - 2 , 6 - 4 , & giving Spain the DAVIS CUP semi final against FRANCE at Cordoba (Spain). This gives Spain its 8th Davis Cup Final birth against either Argentina or Serbia (still to be decided).

Things complicated themselves for Spain yesterday when France won the doubles & took things to 2 -1.A victory by Spain this afternoon in singles was vital & Nadal didn´t not let his country down at all with a superb performance of Tennis.

TENNIS: SPAIN SECURES DAVIS CUP 2010 VICTORY OVER SWITZERLAND

DAVID FERRER (pictured) guaranteed SPAIN its DAVIS CUP victory over SWITZERLAND after defeating Stanislav Wawrainka 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 in a vital 4ºth game taking the overall score to 3-1 in Spain´s favour. This takes Spain onto the Quarter Finals were they will meet France on the 9-11 July.

The tie against Switzerland complicated itself for the current Davis Cup holders when Wawrinka won last Friday the first match against Almagro. David Ferrer then won the 2º game for Spain & with the Doubles on Saturday going Spain´s way as well. The 4ºth game victory was vital as it avoided a draw result & the need to play it all in the last 5ºth match.

Todays defeat over Switzerland takes Spain on & break the straight wins on home "soil" record previously held by USA with 18 ties. Spain now accumulates a 19 straight victory streak on home turf. Tweet

SPAIN WINS BACK TO BACK ( & 4TH) DAVIS CUP 2009 OVER THE CZECH REP.

SPAIN wins back to back DAVIS CUP titles tonight after FELICIANO
LOPEZ & FERNANDO VERDASCO defeated the Czech Republic
doubles team of Tomas Berdych & Radek Stepanek 7-6, 7-5 & 6-2
to give Spain a 3-0 lead, with 2 singles games still to be played
tomorrow.

The Czech team put up a grand fight & were great opponents as they
pushed Spain to their best level in order to win. Yesterday Rafeal
Nadal won his tie along with David Ferrer who came back from near
defeat & won in 5 sets to give Spain a 2-0 coming into todays deciding
doubles game.

This is Spain 4th Davis Cup title & puts it Nº1 in the World Tennis

EURO BASKET 2009 & TENNIS DAVIS CUP: GOOD DAY FOR SPAIN , BOTH INTO FINALS

SPAIN got into two finals today. The first for tomorrow night in the
BASKETBALL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS in Poland & the second
in the Tennis DAVIS CUP final to be played at the end of this year.

Spain defeated Greece 84 - 62 in todays semi final of the European
Championships to either face tomorrow Slovenia or Serbia in the
Final tomorrow night. Who would have thought a week ago that
Spain would get so far after losing two games & playing at a very low
level. The team has gone from bad to better to almost favourites in
just 3 games. Amazing comeback to show their true class that has

earned them already a Silver Medal; now for the Gold.

We wish them luck for tomorrow.

After Spanish Tennis Team players David Ferrer & Juan Carlos Ferrero

put SPAIN 2-0 up yesterday in the DAVIS CUP semi-final being played

at Murcia (Spain), today Spain had a chance to tie it all up in the doubles
against ISRAEL.

The Spanish pair of Robredo & Lopez did just this & won the Isreal pair

7-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 to put this semi - final 3-0 & Spain straight into the
December Davis Cup final which will be played in Spain.

Spain will defend its Davis Cup title against the Czech Republic.

TENNIS 2008: SPAIN DEFEATS ARGENTINA FOR ITS 3ºRD DAVIS CUP

FERNANDO VERDASCO (below)substituted in the last moment his
teammate - & higher ranked player - David Ferrer to take the winning

tie against Argentine JOSE ACASUSO 6-3, 6-7, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to give
SPAIN its 3ºrd DAVIS CUP. It was simply an amazing comeback from
the Spaniard after the Argentine was 2 - 1 ahead & just wore himself out
by attempting to halt the Spaniards attacks. Spain wins 1-3 the 2008
Davis Cup & without its Nº1 World Ranked player Rafael Nadal.

It was precisely the announcement that Rafael Nadal would not
play due to his knee injury that made Spain the "underdogs".
The Argentine´s were at home with crowd support & the Spaniards

were lower ranked. But the Spanish team effort to lift itself up after
losing the first tie, via Feliciano Lopez who won Del Potro in the 2ºnd
to equalizes, & the vital doubles victory put Spain ahead psychologically
yesterday & put all the pressure on Argentina.

Fernando Verdasco went out with that advantage & with excellent
tennis gave his country the victory & the Davis Cup. Here is the VIDEO

TENNIS: SPAIN DEFEATS USA FOR IT´S SIXTH DAVIS CUP FINAL

Young Spaniard & World Nº1 Tennis player RAFAEL NADAL defeated
American ANDY RODDICK in 3 straight sets - 6-4; 6-0; 6-4 - to take
Spain to a 3-1 lead today in its semi final clash & guarantee that Spain
cruises into its 6th DAVIS CUP final. The Spaniard was inspired & was
great infront of the home crowd in Madrid to carry his nations flag.
























Spain will either play Argentina or Russia in Noviembre in the final
