LA LIGA - SPANISH FOOTBALL - ROUND 25 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

La Liga continued today with 4 top matches of Round 25. Here are all the final results along with the goalscorers.

Valencia CF maintains its sights in the Champions League ladder positions with a 2 - 0 win over Real Sociedad in todays midday game. Valencia Argentina forward Piatti was the protagonist scoring his teams two goals: 55th & 58th min.

Eibar hosted Athletic Club Bilbao in their big "Basque Region" derby. The visitors erased their mid-week Europa League elimination & managed a 0 - 1 victory the puts them 8 points away from the dreaded relegation zone of the classification table. The winner for Bilbao came in the 35th min through Gurpegui.

Both Sevilla FC & Atletico de Madrid will be disappointed with their 0 - 0 result. Sevilla let of the hook a very poor Atletico Madrid, while the visitors will not be happy with their Football & lack of ideas. 

Sevilla FC dominated the 1º half & could have done the damage had they been more effective; Iborra hit the bar. The 2º half saw Atletico retain a bit more Sevilla FC but little else. 

Shared points that will disappoint both, as Sevilla FC loses distance in their attempts to get & secure Champions League table positions, while Atletico allows Valencia CF get closer to them on the ladder- just 1 point away now.

Serious slip by Real Madrid against a very good Villarreal drawing 1 - 1 in their match. Great match by the visitors which never allowed Real Madrid to really settle. The game swayed in favour of one team then went the other way. Entertaining stuff with intense Football especially the final 15 mins as both looked for the victory. 

It was also the night of the goalkeepers, especially Villarreal Sergio Asenjo who made some exceptional saves keeping out the home team & Ronaldo. Real Madrid goalie Casillas also did not fall short as he made some match saving interventions as well. 

The goals tonight came through Cristiano Ronaldo in the 52nd min converting a penalty, & the equalizer for Villarreal through Gerard in the 64th min. 

Shared points, which puts the Liga back on fire, with FC Barcelona closing the gap with current leaders Real Madrid to just 2 points. This makes the upcoming "clasico" between both on March 22 & possible title decider.
