Spanish Football National Team Selector & Coach Vicente Del Bosque has handed in his list of players that will represent Spain in the upcoming Friendly International game against France on the 4th of September & for the Euro 2016 Group qualifier against Macedonia on the 8th of September.
Here is the full list of players:
Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, David De Gea & Kiko Casilla.
Defenders: Juanfran, Carvajal, Mikel San Jose, Sergio Ramos, Bartra, Raul Albiol, Jordi Alba, Azpilicueta.
Midfielders: Koke, Iturraspe, Busquets, Iniesta, Raul Garcia, Silva, Pedro, Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas & Isco.
Forwards: Diego Costa & Paco Alcacer.
Most observers were expecting big changes after the disastrous World Cup 2014 campaign calling for new blood & new ideas. The novelties are:
- Kiko Casillas (27 yrs, RCD Espanyol Goalkeeper)
- Mikel San Jose ( 25 yrs, Athletic Club Bilbao Defender)
- Raul Garcia (28 yrs Atletico de Madrid)
- Paco Alcacer ( 20 yrs Valencia CF Forward)
Players like Carvajal, Bartra, Iturraspe & Isco get called back.
A revolution? Not quiet, back at least with younger talented. In my opinion could have called up another forward, especially with Diego Costa under a injury cloud (just a knock they say).
Those left out are:
Pepe Reina, Pique, Javi Martinez (injury), Xabi Alonso (retired), Xavi Hernandez (retired), Juan Mata, David Villa & Fernando Torres
Notable here is the absence of FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique who is out of form at this stage of the season.
