The Friday Night Liga game was between Athletic Club Bilbao & Granada. The final result a 4 - 0 win to the home team that included an "enlightened" Aduriz who managed a HAT-TRICK. The win & three points to Bilbao puts them on course for the valuable 4th position with a Champions League ticket.
Bilbao was too strong for Granada & Bilbao forward Aduriz had already scored two goals by the 16th min. The first was in the 6th min with a header & the second with a "driver" from outside the box in the 16th min. The third for Bilbao came in the 74th min when Aduriz converted a penalty ( & his Hat-Trick ) with the fourth in the 80th min thanks to Captain Gurpegui.
Malaga FC hosted relegation zone Club Valladolid & managed a close 1 - 1 draw. Close because Malaga FC goalkeeper Willy Caballero saved his team from a loss making a marvellous 92nd min save. Early in the match Malaga forward Santa Cruz put his team ahead in the 12th min. Valladolid managed an equalizer in the 29th min through Larsson & then Valladolid let off the hook Malaga. The Club which benefited today was Malaga, just.
Levante put in a competent match defeating Osasuna 2 - 0. Fought out encounter with two teams known for their on the field character which ensured some entertainment. The goalscorers for Levante were Diop in the 4th min & Ruben with a 42nd min goal. Osasuna attempted to pulled back the scoreline in the second half but the home team held them out.
Madrid Club Getafe hosted RCD Espanyol & finished their game with a 0 - 0 draw. Getafe need the points to get them away from the bottom of the Liga ladder & the relegation zone. They will be disappointed with this result although a point is better than no point.
Match with opportunities falling to both teams, but without luck & effectiveness upfront. Perhaps both sides were weary of a possible loss & concentrated more on the tactical aspects of their play with a slightly more defensive orientation. Pity as I am sure if one of the teams would have been a bit more brave they would have been given a better prize for their initiative.
Three golden points to Elche after winning 1 - 0 Celta de Vigo. Three points that will give them oxygen as they attempt to stay clear from the dangerous relegation zone of the Liga ladder. A victory deserved as the home side fought to achieve it with two cross-bars included in the first half. Celta played well & had its chances but if you don't score the opposition will, & Elche got their winner in the 84th min through Carles Gil.
Tomorrow more Spanish Liga Round 26 games including the big Madrid derby between Atletico de Madrid ( 2º ) & Real Madrid ( 1º ). This game starts around 17.00 Spanish time & is not to be missed.
