LA LIGA 2014

Real Celta de Vigo won an important Friday night match for themselves 4 - 2 sending Real Betis further down & into their personal "hell hole" last on the Liga ladder. Real Betis started well & looked good with Ruben Castro putting his team ahead in the 17th min. But from here the visitors fell prey to season long "bad habits" & Celta equalized in the 22nd min via Orellana. Celta then took control of the match with goals from Carles in the 31st min, Orellana again in the 39th min & Nolito in the 73rd min. Betis managed a late "cosmetic" goal in the 79th min through Ruben Castro but things were already over for Betis.

LA LIGA 2014

Mini-celebration at the Real Madrid Stadium this afternoon with Cristiano Ronaldo showing off his recently given "Golden Ball Award" to the fans & his team winning 2 - 0 Granada. The victory puts momentarily Real Madrid leaders of the Spanish League awaiting the results of the games from both FC Barcelona & Atletico de Madrid tomorrow.

Granada did the best they could with Granada goalie Roberto putting in a great match stopping goal opportunities all match from the home side. In fact, the scoreline could have been greater for Real Madrid had they been more lucky, more accurate & as mentioned, the opposition goalie not so in tune.

The Real Madrid goals came from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 56th min & Benzema in the 74th min. Players to mention for their excellent performance are Xabi Alonso, Modric, Carvajal & a hard working Di Maria who was whistle initially but won the applause towards the end of the match.

LA LIGA 2014

Surprise result with Real Valladolid getting three super important points after defeating Villarreal 1 - 0. The winner for Valladolid came in the 40th min from Rueda. Villarreal possibly put in the worst game of the season & their forward Uche missed a clear goal opportunity towards the end of the game that could have been the equalizer. Bad day for Villarreal & good work from Valladolid.

Valencia CF played out a 2 - 2 draw with RCD Espanyol. Very even match that perhaps deserved that both sides finally took a point each.

It was Espanyol that went ahead first with a 3rd min Cordoba goal, that was answered in the 7th min by Valencia forward Alcacer who looked off-side. Valencia later managed to get ahead via a 32nd min Jonas goal but Espanyol Captain Sergio Garcia equalized via a penalty in the 46th min. From here until the end of the game, chances to both teams with both goalkeepers earning their pay-check.

Spanish Football 2014

Exciting match & finish at Sevilla with the visitors Levante making an extraordinary comeback to take the game 2 - 3Intense encounter with chances to both , including a missed 58th min penalty by Sevilla FC player Ratikic which was important.

Coke put Sevilla infront in the 25th min but was answered by Levante forward Barral who equalized in the 30th min. Sevilla intensified their efforts up until Ratikic redeemed himself for missing an earlier penalty with a 68th min goal. But things went bad for the home side as Levante made their end of the game attacks equalizing in the 71st min by Vyntra & the winner by Simao Mate in the 75th min.

The last 15 minutes were physical & saw two red card to each side - Niko for Levante & Jairo for Sevilla FC - in the last moments.
