Brave comeback by Madrid Club Getafe drawing 2 - 2 with Real Sociedad. The visitors quickly got themselves 0 - 2 up thanks to Agirretxe who scored both goals - 3rd & 15th min. However, Getafe got themselves back on their feet after the early blows & managed to equalize with Marica in the 27th min & Pedro Leon in the 51st min. Shared points!
Villarreal got themselves back into the groove winning 2 - 0 Almeria. The goalscorers for the home team were Uche in the 3 rd min & Bruno Soriano in the 87th min. But the scoreline was not true on how Almeria played & perhaps the visitors deserved more for the brave efforts. Once again the lack of effectiveness upfront for Almeria may have been the "brake" that stopped them going further today: another loss.
Slip by FC Barcelona which was held by Levante to a 1 - 1 draw. The locals were determined to make it hard on Barça & the result indirectly benefits Barça s arch rival Real Madrid which is now just 1 point behind on the Liga classification table.
Levante let know their intentions early in the 10th min when Vintra headed into the net a corner to put his team in front. FC Barcelona reacted with their own corner header goal in the 18th min by Pique that equalled things. From here it was intense Football with Levante goalie Keylor Navas stopping everything. Messi had a brilliant second goal opportunity in the 59th min but the "man of the match" goalie Keylor Navas stopped the shot (again).
With FC Barcelona put all their men up forward in order to attempt to score the winner, Barça left holes in the midfield & were nearly themselves punished. Barça goalie Valdes had to make important saves & Levante player Pedro Lopez missed a golden chance to score their winner.
Surprise result. Levante did a great job & match while Barça will scrutinized all this week.
Atletico de Madrid had an opportunity to take the Liga ladder top spot after FC Barcelona drew earlier in their match, but the 1 - 1 draw with Sevilla FC benefited the rival of both top placed Clubs, Real Madrid which is now just 1 point from both.
Heat match that was very physical with hard tackles, some punches & a red card to Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno in the 88th min. Atletico de Madrid was "punished" for not being able to "finish off" their opponents when they were most suffering. This allowed Sevilla to resurrect themselves & equalizes the result.
Atletico got ahead in the 18th min with a David Villa goal, to continue creating opportunities that they could not convert into another goal. Sevilla FC equalized via a penalty in the 73rd min that Ratikic converted.
Shared points & a missed opportunity for Atletico de Madrid to take the leaders position of the Liga table.
