Spanish Football celebrated Round 20 of Liga with the following final results - scores. Below is a brief summary of the main events & all the goalscorers.
Both Malaga FC & Valencia CF need points & victories. Both Club Coaches are under extreme pressure to lift their performance & each match is like a final. Perhaps its the heavy demand on both that lead their Friday Night Liga match to finish in a 0 - 0 draw result. This, & the excellent performances from both goalkeepers - Caballero for Malaga & Alves for Valencia - that kept the scoreline virgin with their amazing saves.
Real Betis lost 0 - 5 to Real Madrid & continues sitting in last place of the Liga ladder, while Real Madrid - without knowing the results of tomorrows Liga games - sleeps tonight joint ladder of the Spanish League. Excellent match from Real Madrid which showed all its firepower today with a ineffective Real Betis which has serious problems ( especially in the midfield ) that I for one don't see any quick solution.
The first goal was a 115 kph long range missile from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 10th min, followed by a Gareth Bale 25th min free-kick that left the Betis goalie Andersen looking like a statue. The "bombardment" continued with a Benzema goal in the 46th min from an excellent Modric play, then another long range goal "flyer" in the 61st min from Di Maria & lastly substitute Alvaro Morata got the fifth in the 90th min.
One way street Football & some impressive goals seen from the Real Madrid "heavyweights".
If Real Betis is stuck in a "black-hole", Madrid Club, & second-last on the Liga Ladder, Rayo Vallecano is also in "deep shit". The team is a small mess, & was more so after Rayo player Baena received a red card in the 18th min that left his team in disadvantage & was a big factor in their 2 - 0 loss away to Elche.
From the red card came the first Elche goal in the 19th min with a converted penalty by Edu Albacer ( a penalty that was not by the way ). Rayo pulled from pride & attempted to hang on but the second for Elche came in the 79th min from Javi Marquez.
Rayo Vallecano ( along with Real Betis ) currently look like serious relegation candidates already halfway through the Spanish Liga season.
Granada let off the hook Osasuna finishing their game with a 0 - 0 draw. Numerous missed chances by Granada, including two posts from Recio & missed one-on-one with Osasuna goalie, most notably by El Arabi. The Osasuna goalie was the "Best on the ground" in the first half which explains it well. Osasuna deserve a meritful mention, they stood firm & held out to win a point, a very valuable point.
RCD Espanyol hosted Celta de Vigo & their match ended 1 - 0 win. Overall it was a boring clash, the TV camera coveraging the match showed images of people in the crowd sleeping. Both sides were over cautious, too concerned with the tactical elements & when opportunities did arise, ineffective with the execution. Until Espanyol forward & Captain Sergio Garcia woke up everyone in the stadium with his skill & a 88th min goal that was the eventual winner. Golden - "caffeine" - three points for Espanyol.
Shared points & goodnight!
