Valencia CF managed to get a 2- 3 win away at St.Gallen & in the process secure their participation in the next stage of the tournament. Even match which was decided in the end by young Valencia midfielder Sergio Canales with his 86th min goal. Before him team-mate Piatti got two goals - 30th & 75th min. The home team managed two goals with Besle in the 38th min & Karanovic 65th min. St Gallen went down to 10 men in the early part of the second half ( Red Card to Montandon) & this gave Valencia the edge which later reflected itself as a victory.
Sevilla FC failed to secure their presence for the next stage allowing Slovan Liberec to draw. The 1 - 1 final result forces Sevilla to win points in their next match. They started well with a Perotti "screamer" in the 29th min, however failed to capitalise which allowed the visitors to score the equalizer in the 70th min via Pavelka. Sevilla lifted after & hit the post in the 90th min via Cala, but too late. Local crowd whistled their team off.
Vit. Guimaraes & Real Betis played a boring game of Football with little chances of goal & a stalemate in the midfield. The winner came for Real Betis in the 93rd min thanks to Chuli. Three points in extremis for Betis, good news for the Spaniards & disappointment for the Portuguese who let slip the points. Final score 0 - 1 Betis.
