Midday match between Real Madrid & Athletic Club Bilbao with the home side defeating the Basque outfit 3 - 1. Real Madrid started slow with Bilbao looking threatening but that slowly turned around as the match went on. The reason for the turn around & the Real Madrid win was due to an extraordinary Modric - best match so far with Real - a hard working Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo who took a chip of his shoulder scoring his first Liga goal & Isco who is growing with every match with two goals today. - Isco 72nd min
Karim Benzema gave two goal passes but was whistled off when substituted by the Real Madrid home crowd. The Frenchman looks out of place & ineffective & is currently the "problem" that needs attention.
Lastly, Gareth Bale has been announced & will be presented tomorrow, & while writing this Kaka looks set to return to AC Milan & Ozil is also close to an exit. This last player will go down to the wire this midnight when transfer window shuts, the player may fight to stay on. Stay tuned!
RCD Espanyol hosted Real Betis to give us the boring game of the day which ended in a 0 - 0 draw. Nothing really to add here except that if you did not see it you missed absolutely nothing. Shared points.
Great game of Football between two teams that are expecting big things this season. Real Sociedad hosted Atletico de Madrid with the later winning 1 - 2 thanks to some excellent Football & their Belgium goalkeeper Courtois who made two match savers at the end of the game.
Atletico de Madrid gave notice early of their intentions when David Villa hit the post but he scored the opener in the 27th min to make up. Atletico dominated & got their reward with a brilliant second goal from Spanish International Koke in the 56th min. However, Real Sociedad took advantage of an Atletico "defensive hiccup" & Xavi Prieto fired in a goal in the 68th min that gave his team wings. Real Sociedad went after the draw but Atletico goalie Courtois assured the victory for Atletico & the three points.
Intense & a "seesaw" game between Valencia CF & FC Barcelona with Barça winning 2 - 3. The damage was mainly done by Lionel Messi who scored a HAT-TRICK , 11th - 39th - 41th min , & also thanks to Victor Valdes who did some excellent saves once again. Then Valencia lifted with Postinga scoring two fabulous goals in the 45th & 47th that knocked about Barça which was saved by the half time whistle.
The second half Valencia CF came out strong & again had chances but Barça took back the initiative & Valencia CF goalie Alves had to do some amazing goalkeeping work to stop Barça - & Messi - again from scoring. In fact, Barça missed opportunities to shut the game missing in front of goal.
Close call for Barça which was a good test for them & most important, another three points. Valencia tried hard & nearly got there but...
An "Andalusia" derby between Sevilla FC & Malaga FC which finished as most derbies traditionally do in a draw, a 2 - 2 final result. Intense & hard fought match with opportunities falling to both teams which assured an entertaining game of Football.
Malaga opened with a Morales goal in the 40th min which was equalled by Gamiero in the 44th min for Sevilla. Then Malaga once again got ahead in the 68th min via Santa Cruz but Gamiero scored again the equalizer for Sevilla in the 71st min. Shared points.
