The UEFA ChampionsLeague is big business for the fortunate participating clubs. This edition is
bigger with 500,7M€ in fixed quantities, with another 409.6M€ in variables from
TVs, to distribute. That gives a final figure of 910,3M€ for the 32 Clubs that
participate, with a jump from last season of 156.2M€. The four remaining Clubs
have so far received the following money figures:
Borussia
Dortmund 25.9M€
Bayern
Munich & FC Barcelona 25.4M€ each
Real Madrid 24.9M€
Theses
figures do not take into account the money generated from Stadium "full
houses", sponsorship deals & merchandising generated from exposure
& victories. The "real" deal is in Champions League, the real reason that all
the big European Clubs have an acquired obsession in gaining access & once
in, staying with certain regularity.
In the
Spanish Football case, the currently third placed Atletico de Madrid has Champions League as its main objective;
the Club knows that it is the only means to ease their chronic deficits, that
Champions League is a cash flow generator & "Football goldmine". Like
Atletico, all Clubs aspire for Champions League & like Frank Sinatra sang,
"if I can make it there I’ll make it anywhere".
