Last night the Galicia regional derby was played between Deportivo A Coruña last on the table & second last placed Celta de Vigo. Apart from the fierce rivalry between both Clubs each needed the three points to attempt to get themselves out of the relegation zone.
Deportivo took the three points winning 3 - 1 a Celta team down to ten men when Aspas was shown a red card for head-butting Deportivo defender Marchena. The goals for Depor came from Riki in the 9th min, Silvio which a long range shot in the 64th min & Salomao in the 79th min. Celta managed a consolation goal in the 80th min by Park.
Both are still in deep classification troubles.
Real Sociedad sleeps tonight in 4th place ( awaits Malaga result tomorrow ) of the Spanish League ladder after winning 4 - 1 Valladolid. Amazing run by Real Sociedad which has found form & is delighting with its Football offer. Deserved win for Real Sociedad with goals from Griezmann ( two ) in the 14th & 57th min, Agirretxe in the 39th min & Xabi Prieto in the 48th min. Valladolid managed their only goal thanks to Javi Guerra in the 87th min.
Deserved & worked victory by Madrid Club Getafe 1 - 0 over Athletic Club Bilbao. Getafe got its goal & eventual winner in the 6th min via Borja. Getafe could have got more but missed their opportunities. Bilbao once again showed their irregular & inconsistent side haunting them all season.
Real Madrid defeated Real Mallorca 5 - 2 & did all the damage in the early second half with 6 devastating minutes. Before this they were losing 1 - 2 when two goals from Real Mallorca all from corners. In the 6th min Usue headed in for Mallorca & again a header in the 20 by Alfaro rocked the locals. Mallorca highlight the "Achilles Heal" of this Real Madrid team this season, set plays & the defensive aerial work is giving the opponents too many goals. Gonzalo Higuain got the Real Madrid first half goal in the 14th min.
The second half Coach Mourinho brough on Ozil & Benzema to give his team more mobility & it seemed to work. In 6 deadly minutes Cristiano Ronaldo scored a header in the 51st min, Modric did a "pile driver" ( spectacular ) goal in the 53rd min & Higuain scored again in the 57th min. Mallorca had chances for a third but Benzema scored in the last minute ( 90+) from a Higuain pass to finish the night.
Valencia CF hosted Real Betis to win 3 - 0. Betis may claim they were unlucky in two of the goals. The first a penalty which looked doubtful & earned Betis defender Amaya a red card in the 15th min. Roberto Soldado scored for Valencia & Betis was at a disadvantage with 10 men from then onwards.
Betis played on bravely putting in a good show, fighting & creating chances but again luck turned away when Paulao scored an own goal to give Valencia CF its second in the 85th min. Valencia then overran a tired & spiritedly defeated Betis with a last minute goal by Jonas in the 90+ min after an individual piece of nice work.
Three points to Valencia.
