A Football Club with the dimensions of Real Madrid & their huge salary obligations to attract & keep the Best players in the World needs Champions League participation, victories & the title to maintain afloat with their status & operating requirements. Tomorrow, Tuesday night , there is a hell of a lot at stake for Real Madrid & without sayiny also for Manchester United.
Economically
we are speaking their "life blood": continuous cash-flow that only
Champions League can give & supply. Here are some numbers:
The last 16
stage is worth 3,5M€, 3,9M€ more if you go into the quarter-finals & another 4,9M€
if you go into the semi-finals. The Champions League Final is worth 6,5M€ &
if you win the title their is another 10,5M€. Summarizing the Champions League Champion can win up to 37,4M€ plus the money from the TV rights pool. Chelsea FC last
year won 50M€.
Real Madrid has won up to this stage 16,6M€, plus all the money earned from the home matches of the Group phase, that is 32M€. If Real Madrid manages to continue, go through into the final & win the Champions League tournament the Spanish Football Club could earn up to 80M€. Big money.

While we are on the subject the starting 11 line-ups of both teams are important
& speculation pre-match is hot.
There are pages & pages being written now & will be tomorrow in World & Spanish Football
press that puts forward their predictions on their version of the starting 11 players on each team.
I will join all of these observers & put forward my ideas of a possible starting 11 line-up for Manchester United & Real Madrid. My only doubt is if Sergio Ramos will move to a right wing to allow Pepe & Varane to play together as Central Defenders, or Varane will fill in for Pepe. Here we go:
Manchester United: De Gea, Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra; Carrick, Cleverley, Welbeck, Rooney, Kagawa; Van Persie.
Real Madrid: D.Lopez;
Arbeloa (Sergio Ramos), Varane (Pepe), Ramos (Pepe), Coentrao; Khedira, Alonso,
Di María, Özil, Ronaldo; Benzema (Higuain).
I reiterate they are speculative line-ups. The confirmed final 11 will be announced an hour or so before the actual match. A game not to be missed as the current tie is at 1 - 1 each & anything can happen tomorrow at "Old Trafford". May the better & richer team win tomorrow.
