SPANISH FOOTBALL continued this Sunday with the rest of the ROUND 22 Liga matches. Here is a brief round down of events , the final results & all the goalscorers.
MALAGA FC drew 1 - 1 against REAL ZARAGOZA. The visitors will be disappointed as they could have taken the three points. Malaga goalie Caballero made important saves that stopped the Zaragoza victory.
In fact Zaragoza got ahead first via POSTINGA in the 13 th min, but Malaga equalized in the 22 min with a doubtful penalty awarded that newly called up Spanish International ISCO converted.
SEVILLA FC stopped the run of Madrid Club RAYO VALLECANO winning 2 - 1. Good match of Football with chances falling to both teams with both sides working hard all game tactically. Sevilla got ahead first via RAKITIC in the 45 th min. Then the mentioned player later received a stupid red card for protesting. Rayo Vallecano equalized thanks to CHORI DOMINGUEZ in the 51st min, but ALVARO NEGREDO got the winner in the 56 th min.
With Sevilla down 10 men they managed the situation & preserved their advantage.
VALENCIA CF managed a 1 - 1 draw at home against FC BARCELONA. Valencia put in a very worked & physical game that neutralized the Barcelona playing style. A concentrated & very disciplined Valencia deserved more than just a draw & Barça goalie Valdes avoided the Valencia victory with a last minute save.
BENEGA put Valencia ahead in the 33 rd min, but a penalty to Barça in the 39th min allowed MESSI to equalize. From here it was more a "chess match" , very tactical & serious Football from Valencia without the final prize. Barça will be satisfied under the circumstances.
REAL SOCIEDAD won 3 - 0 a very poor REAL MALLORCA which is in free-fall. When things are going bad they get worst when early in the game Javi Marquez get a red card & left Mallorca down with 10 men. The visitors could only hold on until their energy levels dropped to the Real Sociedad pressure & the goals came & constantly. The first in the 55 th min via CASTRO, then VELA in the 70 th min & the third via IFRAN in the 88 th min.
ATLETICO DE MADRID won REAL BETIS 1 - 0 in a very rough & tough match of Football that could have seen red cards everywhere. Thankfully, or not, the referee just showed yellows but it was ragged. The goal scorer was DIEGO CASTRO who got the winner in the 62 nd min just 6 minutes after coming on in the second half. The man revolutionized his team with his aggression & is slowly winning the tag as the "tough man" of the Spanish League. Dangerous label to have on ones head but it seems effective as a "shake up" element for his team.
Atletico remains second on the Spanish League ladder & is 9 points behind Barça.
